Absolute temperature is the lowest temperature at which the system is in a state of lowest

possible energy. The scales used to measure absolute temperature include Kelvin and Ranking,
which hold mathematical relation to Celsius and Fahrenheit. On the Kelvin scale, the lowest
temperature possible is known as absolute zero, 0K. Since the temperature of an object measures
the kinetic energy of the particles, absolute zero is the point when the object has minimal
vibrational motion, retaining only quantum mechanical, zero-point energy-induced particle
motion. There has never been an object to achieve absolute temperature, but scientists have come
close to achieving temperatures (.45nK achieved in 2003). [1]
