Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the UNHCR Representative, the incumbent will
perform the following duties
1. Follow up on external relations issues;
2. Develop working relationship with the Government, Donors, NGOs, and UN
agencies, in order to arise interest and develop cooperation in inter-related
activities;
3. Assist in organising briefings, the coordination of inter-agency meetings
and conferences with counterparts and related partners to create conscious
awareness and inform on social events that affect UNHCR activities and
principles;
4. Collect and draft required information for the production and dissemination
of regular updates on the refugee situation and UNHCR programme in
Indonesia;
5. Assist in establishing and maintaining close work relationships with
television, radio and news agencies and keep them regularly informed on
UNHCR activities to ensure appropriate media coverage whenever needed;
6. Update and improve content of the local website;
7. Follow up on various issues on behalf of the Representative, providing
analysis and background Information for decision making on matters
relevant for the implementation of the Office’s mandate in Indonesia; and
liaise with other functions within the Office as well as external parties as
necessary; .
8. Ensure regular distribution of information material to institutions and
individuals to keep them up to date on the latest developments of UNHCR
programmes. The management and distribution of UNHCR written
publications and the provision of UNHCR materials to various institutions
will aim to respond to the interest of the public on refugee issues;
9. Plan advertisements, exhibitions, training, seminars, and other activities,
to promote a better understanding of UNHCR’s aims, activities and
accomplishments through mass media and organized group

if 's /Requirement
Education: Complete University Degree in Journalism, Communications,
Political/Social Science or International Relations.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years previous job experience in the same
functional area. Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is an
added asset.
Nationality: Must be a citizen of Indonesia
2 iency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and oral)
essential; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
Desirable Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills; journalism
backeround or equivalent; good knowledge of UNHCR’s operations.
Computer and Other Skills: computer and internet literacy with proficiency
in using other office equipment (fax, telephone, typewriter, photocopy, etc.)
