For table centerpieces make up paper flags from the printable party, stick to bamboo skewers and
push into wheatgrass or fake grass placed inside white picket fences. In around the centrepiece
place cut out the paper standees from the printable party.

Print a placemat for each guest, wrap around a piece of patterned paper around a linen or paper
napkin and slip in bamboo cutlery. At each place setting write up a place card (these also make great
food labels or bag toppers).

Serve cool drinks in paper cups with straws decorated with circle tags punched and slipped through.
Or tie the circle tags around Crème Soda bottles and wrap patterned paper around for a custom
label. Make up the snack boxes and fill with pretzels or chips (Woolies now make cheese soccer ball
chips). Decorate with bamboo skewers and attach our t-shirt food picks – insert into fruit cups and
stick flag tags into mini boerewors rolls and the like.

guess the score ad place a small a bet. The

Yeesh! is a fun destination for children in Bryanston and Woodmead. It’s an ideal indoor venue for
children to have fun and offers a giant two-storey climbing frame and obstacle course based on
latest international designs, soft play area, ball ponds, slides, maze, jumping castle and trampoline.
It has a separate toddler soft play area for children under 4 yrs, and ‘The Paint Pot’ - a creative area
where children can paint T-shirts or ceramics. Moms and dads can relax in the coffee bar and enjoy
a variety of home-baked fare. Yeesh! is open every day in the holidays except Mondays. Yeesh!
Bryanston offers a mini soccer pitch where boys (and girls!) can host their own World Cup event.
Dads can get involved too, or if they prefer, they can watch the real thing on our big-screen TVs.
Yeesh! is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 - 17:00. A secure photo system allows only the person
who entered with the child to leave with that child. Parents can even ‘drop and shop’ for a few
hours while fully-trained staff will supervise the children. The Yeesh! concept encourages children
to have fun while challenging themselves under the supervision of our trained staff. The structures
help to develop: gross motor skills, spatial awareness, social skills and confidence levels. Yeesh also

friends and close family and sharing sweet memories together?” So we have been
inspired by them to create a World Cup 2010 Dessert Buffet, and also have a
whole host of the items for you to hire and buy to create your very own.

PERFECT PALETTE: The most important decision you make will be the colour scheme, always
remember that some colours are hard to find in the form of sweets, but you can always incorporate
these colours into the linens, ribbons, paper and packaging.
TOP TIP: Pick at least one of these colours as a base colour: white, brown, black or pink.
THE ELEMENTS: There is actually a large variety of elements that go into making a delightful
dessert buffet, not just the sweets as the name would suggest.
Furniture: An obvious requirement will be a sturdy table, but be sure that you are aware early on
of the measurements, as this will dictate not only the linen but also how much of everything else
you need. The advantage of a fine table or bureau could for example alleviate the need for linen.
TOP TIP: Measure your table beforehand so you don’t overcrowd it or have it too spread out.
Backdrop: The most eye-pleasing buffets do not overlook the background, this will be especially
evident in the photos. Therefore, take a look around your venue for a well-lit and decorative wall.
TOP TIP: Consider making a backdrop using a screen or heavy fabric.

Decorations: In addition to a beautiful backdrop, consider adding decorative items over and on
the table. This could be any or the following: paper lanterns, daisies, garlands, balloons, bunting.
And then maybe some specific themed items: from pinwheels to soccer balls both have been used
before to great effect.
TOP TIP: Before buying anything that will need to be suspended consider how you will fix this to
the ceiling. Otherwise, you must look at decorations that come up from the table.

Flowers: The addition of flowers not only provide decoration, but add interesting texture to the
display. The flora can take many different forms from topiaries to multiple bud vases.
TOP TIP: Not all themed buffets need flowers, therefore first consider if they are appropriate.
Linen: Be sure that you tablecloth is floor length. Consider multiple linens in different colours to
create a visually pleasing canvas.
TOP TIP: Steam your linens just before you lay the table for a clean streamlined look.

Vessels and Stands: Think of your dessert table in thirds: the back middle and front, and from tall
to short. If your vessels do not run along similar lines then consider the inclusion of covered stands.

For Terry’s 30th Birthday, all the guys donned on their cricket whites and hit the
pitch – hard!
REAL GOOD LIFE
A great idea for a party is to organise a team sport like cricket or soccer or a
tennis round robin. As one gets older it is harder to get involved in team sports
and one tends to play games that require only one or two people, so a party is a
great reason to do it. One thing was for sure the competition was fierce!
A great spread was put out with all your traditional South African braai fare.
To mimic all things cricket, white picket fences were filled with grass and red
Barbeton daisies, and red “cricket” balls.
As party favours, white boxes were filled with Christmas decorations: felt balls in
red and white (to mimic cricket balls), red and white foiled chocolates and a joke
or two… For the little ones goodies boxes were given and well appreciated.

I’ve decided that the cure for the post-holiday blues is to have a January baby. I
got Christmas cleaned up with a cheery heart in anticipation of Ella’s birthday
party. I had a wee bit too much fun planning for this event, and I couldn’t have
been happier with how it turned out.
The theme was a coloring party based on a Charlie and Lola book called “I Absolutely MUST do
Colouring Now... or painting or drawing” which is absolutely perfect for her. She is obsessed with
colouring and she’s pretty bossy. The kids who came got the book as their favour to take home.
My favorite little details were the butterfly garlands, the balloons, the treats wrapped in baker’s
twine and glassine bags at the candy bar, and the paper bands around the sandwiches and salad
wraps. The kids loved the little table covered with butcher paper that they could color. I think
everyone got a kick out of the pink milk (strawberry milk) too.
COLOURS
Red, yellow, pink, and orange (with a little pastel blue and green mixed in too). The colour palette
sprung up from yards of fabric that I purchased to make Ella a quilt. I am still searching for the
perfect quilt pattern, but it was fun to be able to use the fabric as decor with the gallery wraps and
tablecloths.
CAKE
Oh, and of course, the absolutely INCREDIBLE cake! We hired our friend Pete to design and create
this stunning work of art. I nearly cried when he carried it through the door because it was more
perfect than I could have imagined. Seriously, if you want to make your party a smash hit, hire Pete
to create a culinary work of art for you. My family put in a lot of work to help me with the food and
getting all the details just perfect. Thanks to everyone! After seeing these images, perhaps you’ll feel
like you were here at this intimate little gathering for Ella. Wish we could have invited all our family
and friends!

One of our highlights of this year has to be our recent stand at the Wedding
Expo. The theme centered around the children’s playground rhyme of “Two
little birds, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first come loves, then come
marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.” A simply stunning way to
showcase a whole range of our products to the brides-to-be.

Zara’s Hello Kitty Asian Afternoon Tea Party, as I had planned for her 3rd
brithday was being sabotaged by pleas of „I love Green“ and „Dinosaurs“ –
I blame those Land Before Time dvds. So there was only one thing to do,
have „my“ party for the Birthday Party and her actual „Birth Day“ party for
the green dinosaurs.
REAL GOOD PARTY ADVICE

It doesn’t take a lot to throw a themed party, in this case I played up the „green“ and „pre-historic world
factor“ so as to avoid trying to hunt down dinosaur themed party packs. Instead I bought dinosaur figurine
toys (luckily for me they were on sale at Mr Price Home) and one pack of dinosaur stickers: to make food
picks and decorate food parcels and drinking glasses.
To create a centrepiece, literally all I did was cut three giant fern leaves from our garden and place these
in tall glass vases with a little bit of water. this added height to the table and created a canopy over the
dinosaurs – very realistic and so super easy to do.
For food, I literally scoured the aisle of Woolies and came up with some great finds: chips that were shaped
like T-Rex Claws, choclate cupcakes with pushed in speckled eggs to look like Terradaptial Nests. Healthy
choice options included crudites and wraps already prepackaged but decorated with dinosaur stickers. And
for drinks a 2l Creme Soda met the green factor mark!
As the party was only for close family and friends, it worked out well that some of Zara’s gifts were already
dinosaur themed: puzzle, book, cutlery etc. and could be opened and played with at the party.
Wrap all the presents in the same colour, in this case I used lots of green wrapping paper, green ribbons and
even a green sucker with a Z on it. This tower of gifts can then form part of the décor.
