To Our Customers:
Thanks to customers like you, Richmond Supply Company is celebrating over 65 years
in business. We've had the privilege of getting to know some great people through the
years - both those who've bought from us and those who've worked with us.
I'm proud of our service staff and their desire to satisfy your needs. I hope you find this
to be your experience in dealing with us.
Richmond Supply continues to improve its breadth of service; today we offer services
that range from welding metal hose and vulcanizing conveyor belt to installing
diaphragm seals on pressure gauges. We're organized by departments to give you the
best level of technical and support service. This catalog is of our Rubber Division, which
consists of both our conveyor belting and hose departments. To complete your
Richmond Literature ask your sales representative about these other catalogs to be
printed in the near future.
The internet has quickly become the primary vehicle for providing technical support,
information and seamless order entry and inquiry. Our web site, www.rsci.com, while
constantly improving, provides quick delivery of helpful information on our full range of
products.
We're thankful for every opportunity to serve you and for our many years in business.
Without customers like you it would not have been possible.

Plylok
Plylok
Plylok is a premium plied rubber belt designed for tension ranges between 2-ply
160 PIW to 4-ply 440 PIW. It can be used in a variety of applications, including
coal, phosphate, ore, sand, salt, wood products and aggregate. It is an excellent
choice for conveying products with lower tension requirements.
11
PolyVinylok
PolyVinylok
PolyVinylok is a propietary innovation of Fenner Dunlop, with an all-synthetic car-
cass encased within a PVC compound, creating a solid bond of high-performance
belting. PolyVinylok is made from a unique solid woven fabric made of polyester fil-
ament yarns (or spun polyester staple yarns), coupled in a highly complex con-
struction. Spun polyester staple face yarns protect the top and bottom faces of the
carcass construction, and, when combined with high-performance PVC, form the
working surface of the belt itself. The yarns used are much thicker than conven-
tional yarns, so PolyVinylok resists tearing and bolt pullout better than any other
conventional ply belt. Other benefits include:
Release Characteristics
The unique polyester/PVC construction offers excellent
release, minimal carry-back and easy cleanup.
12
Rock Master - Wood Master
Rock Master is designed for general-purpose applications where material size is 4"
or less, material drop is 3' or less and the idler troughing angle is 35 degrees or
less. It works well with crushed stone, hard rock, sand gravel, ready mix, prep
plants, power plants, cement, phosphate and recycling.
Wood Master is designed for the forest products industry handling lumber, bark and wood chips. It also performs well
with sawdust, pulp belts, broke belts, tray belts, veneer belts and hog fuel.

Spindle Tapes
Habasit's Spindle Tapes are designed for high speed and elevated temper-
atures, and work well wth spindle drives that have spindle braking, light-to-
heavy cops, spindle clutch, ring spinning, open end spinning, twisting.
Spindle tapes can also be used as thread carrier belts for circular knitting
machines. Most of the tapes feature a friction cover of NBR (Acrylonitrile
Butadiene Rubber), although the W-Series features a thermoplastic ure-
thane cover, and the TS-10 model has a Polyamide fabric cover. Product
Line: W-#, TS-#, F-0, A-1 and S-140H.
Timing Belts
Habasit's Timing Belts are designed for light to moderate power transmission and
general conveying, particularly with high inertia forces and limited shock loading.
They feature Flexproof joining capabilities. a finger splice technique that offers supe-
rior performance and keeps you up and running with minimal downtime. These belts
are resistant to abrasion, oil, ultra-violet radiation and ozone, hydrolysis and aging.
They are quiet-running, flexible, longitudinally stable, lightweight and virtually mainte-
nance-free, and can operate at high speeds. The belts are available as endless
polyurethane belts, with a nylon fabric special finish on the tooth side, reverse side,
or both.

Folder/Gluer Belts
Habasit's Folder/Gluer Belts have many of the same characteristics as the Machine Tape
belts. They are also equipped with an electrically conductive layer that gives them excellent
antistatic properties. It also keeps the conveyed goods from adhering and reduces the ten-
dency to collect dirt. The revolutionary FlexFold line can save hours of downtime, since they
can be installed in as little as 20 minutes. Product Series: FlexFold, PA Series.

Modular Belting
Joining
Adjust the heating temperature to suit the type of belt of tape to be bonded. Preheat the press for 5 to 15 minutes
(depending on model). Fix the belt (or tape) ends with adhesive outside the heating press, then squarely place one on
top of the other in the heating press. Make sure the rubber press pad is in place before closing the press. Close the
press and wait the prescribed length of pressing time. Open the heating press, remove any excess adhesive if neces-
sary, and smooth the joint with emery paper.
Cooling
The required cooling time depends mainly on the thickness of the belt. The belt should be at room temperature through
its thickness before placing it in operation or applying tension. If necessary, cooling time can be accelerated on thicker
type belts by using cold wet cloths, cold water or crushed ice.
Bonding Solutions
Fixol - Use on one solution nylon types and on nylon on two solution types.
Vulcol - Use for cementing rubber only on rubber covers of nylon types.
Polycol Regular Type - Use on polyester types other than SAB/SNB or FNB/FAB.
Polycol HR Type - Use on SAB/SNB polyester type.
Polycol F Type - Use on FNB/FAB polyester type belting only.
Press time for all polyester types is based on presses set at 250 F. Press time for all nylon types is based on presses
set at 212 - 250F. All solutions MUST be allowed to dry as specified.

Wide Timing Belts
This extra-wide belt is available in compounds that are FDA/USDA approved, and
have a sealed edge with no exposed cord where bacteria can grow. Instead, the cord
is located in the belt parallel to the belt edges and exactly perpendicular to the belt
teeth. This means the belts will exert little or no side force, making them much easier
to track, and there are no exposed cords at the edge that can fray and contaminate
the product.

Belt Splicing Solutions
Mechanical Fasteners
Around the world, the most respected name in belt conveyor solutions is Flexco. Flexco's belt splicing products have
earned a reputation for quality and performance in the most demanding material handling applications on earth. Their
fasteners set the industry's highest standards for design, ease of use and reliability, and the knowledgeable advice and
proven solutions that keep efficiency high and operational costs low.
Mechanical belt fasteners simplify conveyor belt maintenance. They can be installed faster and easier than vulcanized
splices, resulting in less downtime and increased productivity. In addition, they can be installed by your own mainte-
nance crew, eliminating the need to rely on outside contractors. Fasteners work well when take-up capacity is exhaust-
ed on high-stretch belts, or when belts require frequent length alterations. They also work well for applications requiring
frequent belt removal for cleaning, as well as for conveyors that are not easily disassembled for belt installation. Flexco
offers solutions for heavy-duty applications (coal, mining, aggregate, steel mills, wood processing) as well as light-duty
applications (package & baggage handling, assembly lines, food processing, checkout counters, agricultural equip-
ment). Flexco's fasteners are available in a wide variety of styles and materials, some of which are described in greater
detail on the pages that follow.

Pulley Lagging

Pulley Lagging
1. Butt Seam Method using 72" pads, wherein maximum use is made of all material. However, pieces shorter than 4
inches without two full fastener slots will be unusable. The number of 72" pads required for butt seam application on
most common pulley diameters can be determined using the table below. However, it should be noted that Slide-Lag
can be factory formed to any diameter and installed using published installation procedures. For diameters not shown,
use the formula shown in the second diagram. For pulley widths not shown, use the next larger width or use the same
formula to calculate requirements.
2. Full Width Method using pads cut to exact pulley face width, leaving no butt seams. In this case, the number of 72"
pads required would depend entirely on the pulley and the quantity of face-width lengths which can be cut from one 72"
pad. In the example below, 18 pads would be needed.

Shaker Screen Protector
The protector increases the life of your shaker screen by providing a durable cushion
between the bar frame and the screen cloth. This cushioning action reduces wear on both
metal components for greatly reduced maintenance costs and replacement downtime. It also reduces the noise factor,
for a much quieter workplace. Heavy top thickness on all styles provides extra wear resistance and longer life. The
exclusive rubber compounds are designed for resistance to
cuts and tears, abrasion, impact and the deteriorating effects of
the sun and weathering. Positive gripping action on the screen
bars makes for easy installation, and helps keep the protector
in place during operation. The protectors are typically made of
black SBR or EPDM, although several other compounds are
available for special service conditions. They are shipped in
standard lengths of 100 feet.

CEMA-B Idlers
Superior's CEMA-B idlers are made with precision-ground lifetime-lubricated 17mm ball bearings that have positive lip
contact Trash Guard seals. A specially designed die-cast zinc nut, combined with a delrin seal, forms a deep groove
labryinth seal arrangement to protect the bearings. A 17mm solid shaft runs through both bearings for proper alignment
and support. An external deflector seal has a close tolerance to the roll-end disc for additional bearing protection.
CEMA-C Idlers
Superior's CEMA-C idlers are made with precision-ground lifetime-lubricated 3/4-inch ball bearings that have positive
lip contact Trash Guard seals. A specially designed die-cast zinc nut, combined with a delrin seal, forms a deep triple
labryinth seal arrangement to protect the bearings. A 3/4-inch solid shaft runs through both bearings for proper align-
ment and support. An external deflector seal has a close tolerance to the roll-end disc for additional bearing protection.

Limberoller
Idlers
Limberoller Idlers
All of the Crouse-Hinds Limberoller series, troughing and return idlers, utilize only two bearings per idler. One bearing
is located at each end of the central shaft.
The trough idler is suspended from these end-mounted bearings, so that it forms a catenary that uniformly supports the
conveyor belt. As the belt moves over the idler, the friction between the belt and the rubber causes the idler to revolve
on its own axis. Bearings are placed in metal housings, that can be sealed or lubricated externally, at the user's option.
The sealed metal housing helps protect vital moving parts from contaminants.
Troughing Idlers
The Limberoller Troughing Idler consists of a steel wire rope that is completely encapsulated in rubber. The elas-
tomer is molded to the rope, under heat and pressure, so that a virtually impervious sheath of rubber completely covers
the rope. This basic design varies, depending on belt width, by configuration of the molded rubber jacket.
There are four types of Troughing Idler assemblies: 100, 150, 300 and 350. The 100 and 150 styles use double-row
ball bearings, and the bearing housings are slotted to fit into a rigid mounting. The 300 and 350 styles use tapered
roller bearings in a trunion-type housing that fits into an oarlock-type support. This design gives the idler freedom of
motion in the direction of belt loading and travel.
Return Idlers
The Limberoller Return Idler consists of a solid steel shaft that is com-
pletely encapsulated in rubber by the same means as the troughing
idler. This design varies, depending on belt width, by the configurations
of the molded rubber jacket.
There are three types of Return Idler assemblies: 106, 107 and 307.
They each use a double-row ball bearing at each end of the shaft. The
bearing housings of all styles are slotted to fit in specially-designed
hanger and support brackets.

Express Conveyors
Pre-Engineered Conveyors
Versa Conveyor has provided material handling equipment for large and small companies in almost every segment of
manufacturing and warehousing - from a single conveyor to complete custom-designed systems. This combination of
expertise and experience means they can deliver quality products at reasonable costs. Versa produces several differ-
ent types of conveyors:
Gravity Conveyors
According to Versa, the most inexpensive source of movement is
gravity. Not only is the power free, but gravity conveyors are much
lower in cost than those driven by electric motors. With gravity, the
applications are limited to horizontal movement from a high point to
a lower point. Available models include:
Belt Conveyors
Very economical in power consumption, belt conveyors consist of a
motor-driven endless belt riding on rollers or a slider bed, all mounted
in a supporting structure. Used for handling either constant or intermit-
tent flows horizontally, up or down (25-30 max.) for long or short dis-
tances braking and metering product. They can be permanently fixed to
the floor, suspended from the ceiling or in a portable model. The follow-
ing types of conveyors are available, with numerous belt material and
cleats specially adapted to the application:
Live Rollers
The term "Live Roller" merely describes the addition of POWER to a roller conveyor.
This is accomplished either by snubbing a motor driven endless belt, V-belt, cable or
by a motor driven solid lineshaft with "O-rings" driving each roller from the shaft. Live
roller conveyor is ideally suited for ACCUMULATION of product.
Best/Flex Conveyors
BEST's flexible expandable conveyors are anything but "flimsy." Throughout the years they have explored new ideas
and developed a patented design that provides structural steel support across the entire conveyor width. Other exclu-
sive Best features include:
Heavy Duty Side Plates that feature reinforced aluminum construction, assembled with bolts - no rivets or clips.
The side plates also have a unique ribbed design for even greater strength.
Perpendicular Legs that remain straight in both the expanded and compacted positions. This provides greater
mobility, strength and stability, especially for truck loading and unloading operations.
Large Expansion Ratios up to 4:1, so you can store 12 feet of conveyor in a 3-foot area. This lets you save valu-
able floor space between jobs, and let's not forget the flexibility so you can position it wherever you need it!
BEST's conveyors can be used to solve many day-to-day problems in the workplace. Such as the "dead-space" wasted
by pallets when instead you could use a BEST conveyor to fluid-load your trailer. Or suppose your existing conveyor
stops 12 ft. short of the dock door? BEST has the solution, with an expandable conveyor that continues the automation
all the way to the nose of the trailer. Available options include the Best/Flex gravity system, the Best/Flex power sys-
tem, and the BestReach drive-in conveyor.

chemical resistance to apiphatic hydrocarbons, mild acids and bases. The liners are available in several styles:
63
Shoes, Ceramic Liners
Their Ceraflex liners are premium liners that combine the abrasion resist- Uramic Ceraflex
ance of ceramic tile with the impact resistance of urethane. Field tests
have proven Ceraflex liners to significantly outwear Ni-hard steel liners. They are used with extremely high-volume slid-
ing with minor mass impact, such as grain, sand and gravel, small/medium aggregate, cement, coke, coal or iron ore.
Classifier Shoes
Tandem's urethane classifier shoes are the solution to abrasion problems inherent
in screw conveyor applications, such as wet abrasion, grinding abrasion and corro-
sion due to handling chemicals. They wont rust or corrode like metal shoes, and
weigh significantly less, making them easier and safer to install and putting less
wear and tear on the motor. When bent or distorted, they return to their original
shape, unlike metal shoes, so they wont shatter, and are easy to conform to the
contour of the auger when bolted down.
64
Mixer Liners
Their Drum Mixer Liners are proven to easily outwear steel and rubber, leading to lowered maintenance costs, thanks
to reduced wear, fast clean-ups and reduced noise. They are lighter than steel, and use a weld fastening system with
knock-in plugs, making installation simple and secure. It is also good for chutes and hoppers.

Polypropylene Fittings
These polypropylene couplers and adapters are recommended for a maximum working pressure of 125 psi (1/2" to
1"), 100 psi (1-1/4" to 2") and 75 psi (3"). The recommendations are based on the use of mating Dixon fittings at an
ambient temperature of 70F with a standard seal installed. Each of these fittings is manufactured from a glass-filled
polypropylene. The couplers are supplied with EPR gaskets, 304 stainless steel handles and pins. Each of them is
shipped 24 per package. (NOTE: The coupler and adapters of the 1-1/4" size use the standard 1-1/2" body size. The
coupler and adapter portions of the 1/2" size use 3/4" standard body size.)

Clamps
The bolts used in the Boss interlocking clamps are not standard bolts. They vary from standard bolts in their length,
diameter, overall thread length and material hardness. These bolts can be retorqued, but it is not recommended that
they be reused, as they are designed for a single bend only. Dixon recommends only factory-supplied replacement
bolts. Recommended torque rating is given in FT. LBS. Bolts are made of plated malleable iron.

Wilkerson Lubricators
Econ-O-Mist lubricators are designed so that all the oil flow observed in the sight dome is broken into a mist and deliv-
ered via the airflow to the application. This type of lubricator allows the user to fill or replenish the oil in the bowl without
interrupting airflow or bleeding pressure from the system.
Once the oil-fill cap is removed, the bowl is depressurized Compact Transparent Bowl w/ Guard
and isolated from line pressure, and the bowl itself can be
removed, if desired, for faster refill. The bowl can also be RSC # Size Part #

Series 1 Lubricators
Micro-fogging lubricators, identified by a red adjusting screw, are used for applications containing one or more points of
lubrication, cylinders and multiple or single tools. Air flow through the lubricator lifts oil from the reservoir to the sight-
feed dome. Oil is dropped into the fog generator and atomized into a fine mist. The micro-fogging lubricator delivers up
to 25% of the oil drops visible through the transparent sight-feed dome. They cannot be filled under pressure.

Flo-Mate Couplings
Flo-Mate Couplings offer maximum flow with an unrestricted flow path, permitting maximum temperature control and
minimum coupling size. Sockets, sleeves and valves are brass. Sleeve spring and valve spring are 302 stainless steel.
Locking balls are 440 stainless steel. Socket seal is Viton. Plugs are designed short so that they can be easily
recessed below a mold surface to avoid damage (when mold is changed or stored). Non-valved design should be used
where maximum flow is needed and automatic shut-off is not required. Service pressure is 200 PSI. Suitable for use
with hot oil, water glycol and high temperature water.
WARNING
Over-pressurization could result in a sudden failure of the coupling, causing
severe bodily injury or death. Be sure to select the proper coupling for your
application and use it only within the specified service pressure ranges.
Also, please remember that couplings can and do wear out. They must be
routinely checked for condition and replaced when necessary.

Series Auto-Flo 23
Hansen's high flow, automatic quick-connect couplings are designed for use with compressed air. They are the first
automatic universal coupling designed to operate with Industrial (Series 3000), ARO 210 and Tru-Flate interchange
plugs. An easy, automatic, push-to-connect design provides instantaneous connection and disconnection of lines, plus
automatic shut-off of the socket end. The sockets feature a brass body and valve, zinc-plated steel sleeve, Buna-N
(Nitrile) seal, and stainless steel springs and locking balls. The ARO-210 and Tru-Flate plugs are made of zinc-plated
case-hardened steel. These couplings carry a pressure rating of 150 PSI/10 BAR, and have a flow capacity of 32 Ac
(ARO 210) or 30 Ac (Tru-Flate).
Series 2RL
Hansen's ring-lock quick-connect couplings have a unique interchange which was designed for use with compressed
air. They have a high-flow capacity equal to that of most 3/8" couplings, despite the 1/4" body size of the 2RL series.
Their easy, push-to-connect design will not disconnect if the hose is dragged on the ground, and requires just a simple
rotation of the locking sleeve to disconnect. The sockets feature a zinc-plated steel sleeve, body and valve, brass sock-
et end, Buna-N (Nitrile) seal, stainless steel springs and a zinc-plated locking ring. The plugs are made of zinc-plated,
case-hardened steel. Dust caps and plugs are available. The couplings have a rated pressure of 300 PSI/20 BAR, and
a flow capacity of 48 Ac.

Clamps
Worm Drive Clamps
Each of Ideal's Standard clamps are constructed with bands and housings of 300 series stainless steel and bands that
are a full 9/16" width. Their completely mechanical design creates an interlocked construction. The one-piece housing
locks directly into the band, utilizing the full strength of the material for maximum anti-shear protection. Ideal's
Snaplock clamps are quickly and easily opened and closed. This swivel-action locking of the screw makes installation
much easier, especially in "closed" systems, where the clamp must be opened to be applied.

Pneumatic
Fittings
Parker's pneumatic couplings, also called single shut-off (SSO) couplings, are typically used in
compressed air applications to connect air tools, equipment and hoses. Additional applications
include other gases and low pressure liquids. They are available in a wide range of interchanges,
sizes, materials, ports and other options to satisfy most every pneumatic application.
General Purpose
Parker's general purpose pneumatic couplings are designed to mate with interchanges common in industrial, automo-
tive and instrumentation markets.
Blow Guns
Parker's BG series blowguns are available with either full pressure or OSHA approved nozzles. A maximum flow
adjustment option is also provided.
143
Hydraulic
Fittings
Parker's hydraulic couplings are available in a wide variety of designs, each tailored to a specific
application. Based on valving, hydraulic couplings are generally either Double Shut-Off or Straight-
Thru. Double Shut-Off couplings contain shut-off valves in both halves, body and nipple and are u
sed extensively when loss of fluid is undesirable. Straight-Thru couplings have no valves in either
half and are ideal for maximum flow applications.
General Purpose
Parker's general purpose hydraulic couplings are used primarily for the transfer of hydraulic fluid, and can also be used
with chemicals, water, steam and some gases.
High Flow
Parker's high flow couplings are used where maximum flow with lowest pressure drop is desired, such as for high pres-
sure washers, mobile water tank lines, or connecting hose lines to hydro-blasting equipment.
