ABERDARE
NATIONAL PARK
Within a beautiful mountain range in the
central highlands of Kenya is the Aberdares
National Park, a fairy tale place of dense
forest, misty moorlands and alpine plants
where icy rivers plunge in glorious
cascades and waterfalls.
The 766 sq. km of the area are rich in
wildlife. The Salient stretching out towards
the nearby town of Nyeri, was once an
elephant migration route, not used today.
These great animals remain within the park
together with buffalo, a wide variety of
antelope, giant forest hog, the elusive
bongo, rhino, lions and hyenas. Tacazze
and Malachite Sunbird, Mountain Buzzard
and African Goshawk are found in this area
where the birdlife is abundant and varied.
HOTEL OUT SPAN
ABERDARE
At N,yeri, about 165 Kms from Nairobi, in the Central highlands.

A gracious, solid comfortable country hotel. Its

setting carefully chosen in 1927, with views of
Mount Kenya and framed by the white water of
the Chania River, Outspan is the nearest hotel
to the spectacular Karua Falls in the Aberdare
National Park. The gardens are beautifully
manicured and the rooms still retain the
qualities of a historical (burial site for Lord
Baden Powell – the founder of World Scout
Movement). The 30acre setting lends itself to
conferences and training sessions with
numerous activities for the leisure hours.
Another 16 acres bordering the river are set
aside for nature walks. It is the base hotel for
the Tree-Tops (famous tree-hotel in the
Aberdare National park).
Upgrade to Tree Tops at
ABERDARE

This is the original tree lodge, legendary for its

historical royal connection - as it is here that
Queen Elizabeth 2 of England ascended the
throne in 1952 after the death of her father
King Edward. The lodge rises straight out of
the ground on stilts and has four decks, a
rooftop viewing platform and vantage viewing
platforms on each floor with open balconies
that are ideal points for viewing and
photography. The two photographic hides at
ground level at either end of the lodge give real
close shots of animals. There is an optional
buzzer in the rooms to alert of arrival of
animals at the floodlit water hole. The
emphasis is on making as little noise as
possible so as not to scare away the animals at
the water hole. Children below 07 are not
allowed here except on special children nights.
LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Lake Nakuru National Park which covers an area of
