Instructional Procedures:

Set: Teacher will introduce/discuss the word “worried”. Students will help make a list of
things that they worry about. They will write down a worry to turn in and the teacher will
write these worries on chart paper.

Instructions: Teacher will introduce the book Wemberly Worried to the whole class by
taking the students through a picture walk. Background information and new vocabulary will
be introduced. The whole class will discuss the things they worry about per the chart.

Modeled Activity: The anticipatory guide will be passed out to the students. Teacher will
divide the students into groups of 2-3 to answer the pre-reading questions. With
assistance, the students will answer the pre-reading question within their groups.

Independent Activities: They will then read the story and write down any information
they read in the “During Reading” section. After reading, they will answer the questions
again and record them in the post-reading section and discuss within their groups. Teacher
will assist as necessary.
