o Start by finding how to make CP competitive – end up finding a NB
 Find solid NB – strong impacts
o Vary your strat
 Not always just impact calc – mechanism of implementation
o Emphasize key points

o Come up with good DAs, adv CPs, PICs to solve the whole case
o Affirmative won’t have defens eon specific CPs
o Vague plan text – solvency indicts, impact level indicts – cut ev that plan is implemented in a different
way than the aff wants there to be
 Ie. hooch “give water to Africa” aff

o Things to consider when looking at a plan text
 Look for terms for word PICS (counterinsurgency, pull-out, withdrawal, operations, etc.)
 Search “term counter insurgency” “word counter insurgency” on google
 Word PIC have a good strat
 International actors awill be a big deal on this topic
• Any adv about something positive the military needs to do (readiness, diversion,
overstretch)

 Aff topically required to withdraw troops
