Mon 26 Regional Training This event, a coordinated effort of CAFAN, FAO, EU-AAACP and
Course in CARICOM/CARIFORUM, will bring together leading farmers organizations and selected
Agribusiness value chain stakeholders from eleven Caribbean countries; Antigua & Barbuda,
Management for Barbados, Belize, Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent
Farmers and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Lucia. In April 2008 in Jamaica, the
Organizations roots & tubers sector was identified as a priority sector for overall EU-AAACP support.
26 -30 July The first regional workshop for farmers’ organizations was held in St. Lucia in November
Bay Gardens 2008, where action plans were developed and capacity building needs for improved
St. Lucia provisions and ways of doing business identified. Several of the organizations were
selected based on their involvement in the production and marketing of roots and
tubers for support from the EC AAACP. A second workshop held in Grenada in
January 2009 awarded CaFAN the responsibility of coordinating and networking
activities of the selected organizations.
Validation As part of its mandate to prepare a Regional Policy for Food and Nutrition Security
Workshop For The (RPFNS), the CARICOM Secretariat, with the support of the FAO Project Promoting
Draft CARICOM CARICOM/CARIFORUM Food Security, funded by the Government of Italy, is organising
Regional Policy For a Workshop for the Validation of the Regional Policy for Food and Nutrition Security in
Food And Nutrition the Caribbean. The Workshop seeks to review the draft RPFNS, discuss the issues and
Security agree on the nature and scope of proposed national and regional levels policy

CAIC Caribbean This Forum is billed as ‘a business opportunity for companies within CARICOM to partner

Tues 27 CaRAPN Medium The Caribbean Regional Agriculture Policy Network (CaRAPN) was established by a
Term Strategy group of agriculture stakeholders in 2003. Since then it has been operating as a project
(MTS) Workshop financed by the Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and
27 – 30 July 2010 managed by IICA. The meeting seeks to establish the context and platform for
Port of Spain, strengthening agricultural policy networking in CARICOM in the Medium Term (2011 -
Trinidad 2015); within that context, to define a niche for CaRAPN and thus develop a strategic
plan to guide its operations in the medium term (focus area, membership, operating
mechanisms and sustainability strategy); recommend practical formal and informal
processes and mechanisms to engage partners, stakeholders, beneficiaries of
CaRAPN. The year 2010 is of special significance to global, hemispheric and regional
development targets, including making progress in agricultural and rural development
in CARICOM.

Fri 30 CaRAPN Briefing This half day Briefing is being held as part of CaRAPN MTS workshop and in
20 July collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago AgriBusiness Association (TTABA) to update
Port of Spain stakeholders under the theme Extracting Greater Value in the New Business
Trinidad Environment, including an update from CABA on the outcomes of the Haiti Private
Sector Forum, and from the OTN on the CARICOM-Canada negotiations. The Briefing
will be opened to agriculture stakeholders in Trinidad.
Sat 31 58th Annual The 58th Denbigh Anniversary will feature outstanding livestock, agricultural and
Denbigh horticultural exhibits form all fourteen parishes in Jamaica. Several additional events
Agricultural & and competitions have been added over the years, with the National Champion
Industrial Show Farmer Competition and National Young Farmer Competition emerging as hallmarks of
31 July – 02 August the show. Exhibits will open between 10:00am – 5:00pm on show days. Daily and
2010 nightly entertainment will take place in the show ring and on the main stage.
