Jas: Hi! This is DJ Jas what is your name and your from?
Abi: Hello DJ Jas, I’m Abigail Pauline Frias from Dasmariñas Cavite. I just want to ask
regarding my problem with my boyfriend. He can’t move on with his past. There
are times that when we’re together he would always recall some of their
memories. It was okay with me at first but things getting worst because he always
includes her ex-girlfriend in every conversation we had even in the little details. It
seems that I don’t exist in his life anymore.
Jas: Oh, I see. That is too hard for you.
Abi: I felt I was just his escape-goat to mend his broken heart. I love him so much but I
realized that it was just a one-sided love affair. I exerted effort to fix this but
nothing happens. I cannot bear it anymore. I can’t concentrate on my studies. I’m
emotionally depressed to the extent that I cannot get a wink. I don’t know how to
deal with it. Should I let him go? Or fight for my feelings. Pleas do help me.
Jas: I think your problem is too hard for me to help you. I have called already some
experts to help us deal with it.

Jas: Here with us right now is a Psychiatrist in De La Salle Medical Center, Ms. Donnah
S. Alvarado M.D. Hi Dr. Donnah, I hope you have heard the story of our caller
and I do hope you can help her.
Donnah: Good morning. DJ Jas I’ll try my best to help her……. I heard your problem
Abi, are there any questions that you would like to ask?
Abi: Why did I feel this way, Dr.? Whenever I cry and recall our memories my heart
literally aches.
Donnah: You feel that way because you are emotionally imbalance. Your hypothalamus
which is the seat & center of your emotions releases hormones that enter to your
bloodstream in your body, especially to your heart. These hormones affect how
your heart beats.
Abi: Why is the heart always related to love & being heart broken?
Donnah: That is the mistake of common people. They think that the heart is responsible
for your emotions especially when you feel pain. But the truth is, your heart is just
a symbol of love because this is the only organ in your body that beats & moves
selflessly.
Abi: What is the reason why my heart beats so fast whenever I saw the love of my life?
Donnah: Your heart acts this way because your brain tells it to do so. Remember that
your eyes is a sensory organ that sends impulse to your brain and processes some
information. To explain further your brain has 3 parts the hindbrain, midbrain &
the forebrain. Your forebrain is composed of the most complex structures that
controls complicated behavior. One part is your forebrain is the cerebrum, which
is the main area of your memories. Cerebrum sends back impulses that makes you
remember. This time, your heart palpitates because your brain stimulates
hormones and makes you react that way.
Jas: Whew! That was too complicated! I hope our caller understand that.
Abi: Yes of course. It’s amazing! That really is a lot of information to absorb. But Dr. ,
you’re a psychiatrist how can you help me forget this pains?
Donnah: I can only help you in a way that is not medical but in a therapeutic was. You
can go in my office at DLSU Medical center. What I usually do is I hypnotize the
person. In this way, she will be relaxed and for some moment his brain
will not process information and will relax as well. Just think of a fan, normally,
peoples’ brain are like a fan with a highest speed but through this hypnotizing
method your brain will be at the lowest speed so you will not experience stress.
Abi: Thank you so much Dr. This information will surely help me a lot.
Donnah: Your welcome. Just remember that your memories would always be responsible
for your pain. Just distract yourself and be happy.
Jas: Well, I think some of the questions of our caller were answered, thank you Dr.
Donnah S. Alvarado from DLSU Medical Center. Now let’s have some advise
from a expert, Ms. Ma. Sheila S. Del Rio M.D. regarding stress.
Jas: So good morning Dr. Del Rio. Can you tell us how we’re going to manage stress?
Sheila: Okay. It is really important that you know how to manage it well and how to
cope well with stress because it can lead to serious problems.
Jas: Oh really? Dr. what disease can trigger this stress.
Sheila: Too much stress can cause physical illness such as heart disease and mental
illnesses such as anxiety disorders.
Abi: So Dr., what can I do to prevent this?
Sheila: There are so many ways or techniques that you can do to cope well with stress.
For example, you have so many difficult problems, you may felt so stress to it so
you should not focus yourself only to that. You don’t have to worry that much.
You have to take a rest. Spent time with yourself and relax. You can do also some
meditation, this may help you to relax your mind and body.
Abi: Dr. does emotional and moral support from my friends and family can help me
coping with my problems.
Sheila: Yes, definitely! Social support system provide us with emotional sustenance,
tangible resources, aid and information when we are in need. We can get an
emotional support not just on human but also on animals. Studies shows that
companionship with animals can help lower stress.
Abi: Oh I see. I think this can help me in coping my problems with my boyfriend because
I am too stressed.
Jas: Well, thank you Dr. Ma. Sheila S. Del Rio from DLSU Medical Center for the advise
regarding stress management.
Whew! This has been DJ Jas for the segment “Call Me and I’ll answer Thee!”
