About meeting in Nicosia

Both at school and during the visits we try to highlight the

similarities of European countries, to find commonalities that unite
all nations. We look for links in all spheres of life. Summing up the
results of the 4 th visit we can state that the idea of solidarity has
been sustained.
Involvement of children into project activities depends on teachers,
both on how teachers realise the aims of the project, and on how
competent they are at organising, or on how they are able to see the
final result. Every time, at visits, activities are discussed anew and
works are reminded. Hence, homework is completed differently, in
the way the teacher comprehends it.
Last time, also, not all countries completed their work with equal
responsibility. Some forgot to do something, others misunderstood
it. However, having discussed and summed up, all the teams
promised to improve the drawbacks. In this context our team
showed themselves perfectly, therefore I thank the teacher and the
entire team for their splendid work.
The young took a very active part in activities, organised by their
teachers. After some adjustments to the agenda of the hosts had
been introduced, the idea of the visit was preserved and the final
product was created: a collective tale, reflecting the idea of
solidarity. Space for all-day-long workshops of the young people
was chosen successfully. They could communicate, build and
make presentations.
In my opinion, it is easier to young people than to elder ones to
negotiate and communicate, because they have not completely
identified with their nation, they do not have definite stereotypes;
they are liable to become different and are able to accept diverse
opinions.
We see many connections between us, however the better we know
each other, the more differences we discover. We are all
Europeans, yet we vary in communication and culture of behaviour
a lot. Consequently, to agree on the final result was the hardest,
because we were not only the representatives of diverse cultures,
but also people with various temperaments and different abilities to
express ourselves and comprehend others in English.
Cooperation of this kind teaches us the skills of diplomacy, makes
learning possible, trains the ability to change and see possibilities
of agreement: standing for personal position, suppressing
ambitions, or submitting to collective decision. These are lessons
that are useful to all age groups.
