Manaus

Situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers, Manaus

is the capital of the state of Amazonas. It’s the most populous city in
the state and is a popular ecotourist destination. One of the most
popular attractions is the Ponta Negra Beach, just 13 kilometers from
the centre of the city, where, when the river is low , the sands are ex-
posed, forming a beautiful contrast with the dark waters of the river.
Just about six miles from Manaus, one can contemplate the Encoun-
ter of the Rivers, the point at which the dark waters of Negro and
greenish muddy waters of the Solimões meet, forming the Amazon.
