-Once you have your research thesis you must become familiar with your topic and search

for

CREDIBLE sources of information. This is a crucial step in your research—everything you do

from now on will depend on the type of sources you find NOW. We will discuss how to find,

survey, question, and evaluate resources with Mr. Wong, and you will be responsible for

spending time for both Mr Milton and Ms. Rooth searching for a wide variety of appropriate

source material.

As you search, question and evaluate sources, you must create an ANNOTATED

BIBLIOGRAPHY. The purpose of the bibliography is to show you and your teachers the quality

of research you plan to engage in: we will be able to see your progress and quickly spot any weak

spots to improve your already amazing product.

You MUST:

-Search for information

-As you find potential sources (defined by Mr. Wong in class,) compile and type an annotated

bibliography in which you list the source following MLA style and provide a brief (5-8 sentence)

annotation (description) that provides an overview of the source and why it might be a good

resource for your thesis. You should have a total of at least 10 CREDIBLE, RELEVANT sources,

including Web sources, print sorces (books) and other appropriate sources.

-ONE source must be a Primary source (unless an exception is made by Milton/Rooth due to
subject matter).

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES:

Primary sources are written by those that have a first-hand account or
experience with the source.
Secondary sources are those written by people who did not conduct the
study or live the experience
 EVALUATING SOURCES (the NICE acronym)

CARS Method:
Credibility
Accuracy
Reasonableness
