Now that he has proposed, the next step is to find you that
perfect wedding dress.
Trying to get the men in your wedding party to get their tuxedos or suits is like pulling
teeth. Often, groomsmen would prefer to wait until the last minute to get fitted, so it’s
best to take a few steps so the process runs smoothly.
The bride and groom should go to the tuxedo shop three to four months prior to their
wedding date to pick out their preferred tuxedo style. The prices of tuxedos depend
on the style and color, which are usually black, brown, ivory, tan, latte or gray. Many
tuxedo shops provide a complimentary groom’s tuxedo with six or more tuxedo rent-
als.

Top Five
Wedding Reception Trends
By Gina Artisensi-Skime, The Crown Room Banquet Center
The customized wedding. Couples are skipping traditional styles in
favor of individualized themes that truly represent them. Whether
1 it is a favorite pastime or hobby, sports team, or a custom mono-
gram to personalize their event, couples are taking those extra
steps to stay true to their vision.
Specialty linen. Also on the rise for 2010–2011: specialty linens.
There has been a significant increase in couples that also to carry
2 their colors or prints throughout the entire ceremony and recep-
tion. Couples want to carry that custom look into their ceremony
and reception with chair covers, sashes, table runners or overlays,
floor-length tablecloths and more.
Candy buffets. Although the candy buffet trend has been around
for a couple of years, it is still a top choice for favors. Some sim-
3 ply like the idea of giving their guests the option to choose their
candy based on their individual tastebuds, and some like the
décor aspect that a candy buffet can bring to their overall theme or
color choice. It’s a great way to be creative and thank your guests
for coming at the same time. Nothing symbolizes adulthood like mar-
riage, so take that chance to call on your inner child and indulge in
this sweet treat.
Late-night snacks. Most couples put an emphasis on their social-
hour appetizers and beverage selections and are now providing
4 a separate late-night treat for their guests to enjoy. You can usual-
ly plan on less than half of your guest count—or less, depending
on your guest list—being in attendance for “phase II” of your evening.
You will want to provide a fun and casual bite for your guests to in-
dulge in such as pizzas, build-your-own nachos, sliders, popcorn, or
a sweet-and-salty combination. You will want to keep your late-night
snacks light and easy.
Winter-wonderland wedding. If a fresh blanket of white snow
sounds like the ideal photo backdrop for you, then a winter
5 wedding is the way to go. For some couples, getting married
in the winter is what they had always imagined. Not only can
you escape to a warm destination on your honeymoon immediately
afterward, but it can also be a great way to save money, as some
vendors offer discounts in the winter months.
Flowers
By John Malikowski, Blooming Creations Floral & Gifts
Plan, plan, plan. Have some floral ideas in mind when you
meet with your florist. Bring pictures from magazines or the
Flowers
Internet that reflect your vision. Have some colors
and flower choices in mind. If you’re unsure of
what you want, an outstanding florist should be
able to help you create that perfect combination
of colors and flowers to make your wedding flow-
ers a dream come true.
54
At Blooming Creations, we make
certain that your wedding flowers
become an emotional experience.
The most gorgeous flowers can
create a stunning atmosphere at
your ceremony. Blooming Creations'
floral specialists will provide
bouquets and accent pieces that will
take your breath away.
The first is to make a Wedding Day Timeline. I’m not talking about a general
timeline of events; your wedding programs will do that just fine. I mean map out
everything from when your alarm is going off in the morning to who is driving you
and your new husband to the hotel on your wedding night. Write down every
detail you need to remember (think about florists, pictures, family arrivals, hair ap-
pointments and the timing of your dance). While you may not follow the timeline
exactly, it will save you the stress of trying to remember when and where you
need to be, along with other important people of the day.
My second and final piece of advice is to make sure that you take the time to
enjoy your big day. You’ve spent countless hours planning, preparing, stressing
and anticipating this day; the last thing you want to do is miss it. Believe me,
your wedding day will go faster than you ever thought possible, so do whatever
you can to soak in one of the most incredible
days of your life. - Erin Moser

Music & Entertainment
PartyTime
by Adam Welz, Prime Time DJ’s
Your reception counts for at least half of your wedding day ex-
perience, so creating the perfect atmosphere for you and your
guests is vital to the success of your reception. With myriad
DJs available, each with distinctive experiences, prices and spe-
cialties, the decision can seem overwhelming. However, when
choosing your DJ, it is important that they don’t just hold your
reception, but that they throw you a PARTY!
P: Professional
When searching the seemingly endless list of local DJs, it is im-
portant to find one that is professional on every level. This means:
Is your DJ polite and respectful on the phone? Does he/she have
a professional Web site? Do they have professional equipment?
Are they professional when handling your needs? Remember,
this is your special day and you do not have to settle!
A: Accommodating
Your DJ should be accommodating to you and your requests.
They should be able to answer questions and make suggestions
that allow for a successful evening. With a wealth of experience,
your DJ should be able to use their knowledge to generate a
reception that is yours. Your style, your way!
R: Resourceful
Being resourceful is an extremely important attribute for your DJ
to have. This means finding a DJ who has the ability to find clever
ways to overcome difficult situations. Though you may not ex-
perience any problems at your reception, having a DJ who can
improvise is still a necessity. A resourceful DJ will understand
music (songs, styles, etc.) and how to relate that to the genre
of people present. When your DJ is resourceful, the success of
your reception is guaranteed.
T: Tactful
A tactful DJ will have people skills. Since this
special day will be celebrated by a vast array of
people (with different backgrounds, personalities,
from different generations), it is important that you
have a DJ who is able to unify the group. When
a DJ is tactful, the reception is made special to
every guest.
Y: Yours
Your DJ should be flexible and offer suggestions in
the overall design, but also sensitive to any needs
or desires you may have. A reception that is cre-
ated with your best interests and requests in mind
will quickly become a magical and memory-filled
celebration!

• Does the officiant or church have any special rules or restrictions?
• Does the officiant require premarital counseling, either from the officiant or
elsewhere?
• Does the officiant charge a ceremony fee? How much?
• When will the rehearsal be?
• If you are planning the ceremony at the church of a pastor, find out what the
church provides and what you need to provide.
