Central Coast AmeriCorps Chapter Hosts

Volunteer Week; Recruits New Members
San Luis Obispo, California (April 28, 2010) – The Central Coast AmeriCorps is
hosting a week full of volunteer work for their current members from May 7 through
May 15. The week will include events such as serving food at local shelters, painting
a mural at the Boys and Girls Club of Oceano, and running a food bank. Central
Coast AmeriCorps was established in 2007 and has volunteers working in 28 local
organizations in the San Luis Obispo area.

Members of AmeriCorps participate in various types of volunteer work with other

members, as well as working with an assigned organization on a regular basis.
AmeriCorps members commit to ten months of service and receive a small living
compensation. AmeriCorps works with the volunteers as well as participating
organizations to make the best match possible for their participants.

If you are interested in hearing more about the community service week or applying
to become an AmeriCorps member, please visit their Farmer’s Market booth on
Thursday, May 13. You may also contact Carly or Jesse by calling 805- 756-5838 or
e-mailing sloccvc@gmail.com.

AmeriCorps provides their participants with many opportunities to get involved in

San Luis Obispo and the surrounding area. AmeriCorps welcomes people of all ages
18 and over to fill out an application and become involved in their cause.
