Thank you for your letter. I have indeed received many calls this morning from those offended
and disturbed by your use of the expression “Nazi attitudes” in reference to officials at National
Public Radio. I wish you had never invoked that terminology. As you know, Nazi comparisons
are becoming all-too commonplace in the public square. They are clearly inappropriate and only
serve to denigrate the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust.

Having said that, I believe your apology and explanation is sincere and heartfelt, and I appreciate
your effort to immediately retract your words before they did any further harm. Apology and
explanation accepted.
