SUBJECT Citizen Parking at City Hall

We understand that beginning in January the public will no longer be permitted to park in
the City Hall parking garage, and must instead park behind City Hall at the metered parking
spaces. We are concerned that there will be no free parking available for the public at their
City Hall. Citizens should not have to pay a fee to visit the seat of their municipal
government; this discourages active participation in public discourse.

We do, however, understand that if there is free parking in the lot behind City Hall, there is
a concern that city employees and people who are not visiting City Hall may utilize the free
spaces, reducing or eliminating parking available to City Hall visitors. We request that you
investi ate a solution that would provide free parking to the public visiting City Hall while
preventese spaces from being ud by others
