TITLE: EMAP Project Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Grade 7

FLSA DESIGNATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: EMAP Executive Director

GROUP: Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP)

DUTIES: Assists Project Coordinator with essential pilot project


management and implementation activities of the national
accreditation process for international, federal, state and
local emergency management programs. Typical duties
include, but will not be limited to, providing project
planning assistance and implementation, coordinating
project activities, materials and research, collaborating
with project stakeholders, preparing and managing all
meeting resources, and developing project documents,
including procedures, proposals, progress reports, and
presentations. Other duties include, but are not limited to,
assistance with providing information to appropriate
Committees and a subcommittees and responding to
telephone, e-mail and mail inquiries.

The ideal candidate must be motivated and reliable to


perform the duties associated with this position, must
have experience and expertise with project management,
must have a great sense of detail, must have excellent
verbal and written communication skills, must be a
people person who can multitask several project
strategies and timelines concurrently and be able to take
initiative when needed. Candidate will be involved in a
fast-paced office setting that requires a great deal of
interaction among other project staff, workgroups, and
stakeholders.
EDUCATION/
EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a high
school equivalency diploma and graduation from a
recognized college or university with a Bachelor’s
Degree and two years work experience involving project
management, i.e., planning, developing project plans,
project coordination, evaluation, making
recommendations and monitoring adherence to project
schedule; competence to expert ability in Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and use of
the Internet. Familiarity with emergency management
practices and issues and national emergency management
standards is a plus. Out-of-state travel required.

SALARY RANGE: $41,000-$60,000
