Dear Parent,

I am pleased to announce that Ark Academy’s Debating Team will be attending their first debate on Tuesday 25th
January as part of the Urban Debate League. The debate will take place at Copland School and will begin at 4pm.
Students will leave school at 3.15pm to arrive there in time to prepare themselves. The debates will be over no later
than 6.30pm and we will walk back to school together from Copland where you should meet your child or they will
be allowed to go home by themselves.

In order that the students might be readied for this ‘match’, our university mentor, Matt Williamson, will still be
coming in on Thursday to prepare our debaters during the enrichment period, despite parents’ evening. School will
therefore finish at 5pm for this small group, as normal.

Please fill in the form below and return to Mr. Kirkman ASAP regarding these matters.

As a general note, the debating team has been a great success so far and I know students are enjoying the
enrichment opportunity as well as developing for themselves key skills which are essential for their futures. I would
like to thank you for your support so far with this.
