Safety Guidelines

General Safety Guidelines

1. Personnel using pesticides, chemicals for Spraying / Fumigation and degassing

shall use appropriate personal protective equipments (PPEs) like hand gloves,
goggles and shoes.

2. Personnel while working on power type material, shall wear nose mask so that
they do not inhale the powder material.

3. To avoid dermal problems, gum boots shall be worn by the workers handling
cement.

4. Personnel involved in fumigation and spraying activities shall come out to open
air to avoid prolonged exposure to pesticides.

5. Personnel shall ensure that after completion of spraying / fumigation operations,

hands, face, and exposed body parts are washed with water and soap.

6. Fumigation activity is not carried by single person and before closing the godown
it should be clearly ascertained that no living being is left inside.

7. Personnel working at height shall have appropriate PPEs like safety belts, safety
shoes, safety helmets etc.

8. Personnel shall not pick up load more than defined in the state factory rules, as
applicable. Generally a male worker can lift upto 50 kg and a female worker upto
30 kg weight.

9. A ladder, with rubber at the bottom for stability, shall be used for storing / issuing
items stacked at height more than 2 meters.

Electrical safety Guidelines

1. Ensure that insulating mats or other electrically non-conductive material on the

floor at switchboards, power control panels where there is potential for shock
hazard.

2. Powered equipments shall be stopped and locked out before maintenance or

repairs are performed.

3. Ensure that all the Plugs are free of dirt, grease, oil etc. before using.

4. Ensure that in case any extension cords are used the same shall not be overloaded.

5. Ensure that no damaged electrical cords / cables are used.

6. Ensure that all the electricians involved in carrying out the electrical maintenance
activities use appropriate PPEs.
