2
Bullying is an English term used to describe acts of physical or
psychological violence, intentional and repeated, practice for an
individual (bully or “Bad Boy”) or group of individuals with the objective
to intimidate or to attack another individual (or group of individuals)
incapable (incapables) of defending them self´s. Also exist the
aggressive victims, that in determined moments they commit
aggressions, however also are victims of bullying by the class.

Bullying: what it is!

3
The “Bullying” is a term of English origin, that means physical or
psychological the aggression, of intentional form, constantly practiced
for a pupil or group of pupils on a colleague or more fragile group of
pupils.
One is about a behavior that seats in a different relation of being able
between the intervening ones; he occurs constantly and of a hostile
form and the considered pupils white have, normally, one or another
characteristic that differentiates them of excessively (they use
eyeglasses, they are fat, they are best or the worse ones of the
group, dress or they think in different way, between many other
reasons).
Between the children and the young, “bullying” can assume serious
ratios and to reflect itself in an antisocial behavior with very serious
consequences for the future, wants for the aggressive pupils, wants
for the attacked pupils.

The different types of Bullying

4
“Bullying” can be classified of two forms: the direct one, through
physical violence and undirected, moral aggression.
The white children and young of “bullying” successively are placed by
the aggressive pupil in embarrassing situations and are victims of
offensive nicknames, threats, discrimination, isolation and group
exclusion, persecution, siege, verbal humiliation, robberies and, for
times, physical aggression and vandalism or destruction of its goods
(books, clothes and other belongings).
One another recent type of “bullying” is “cyber-bullying”. In this in
case that, the new technologies of the information are used to insult
and to intimidate (for example: electronic messages the colleagues
with the intention of defaming them and intimidating).

The direct effect of “bullying” in the

schools.

5
The masculine sex is most inclined to “bullying”, especially to the
direct one, However, this problem also affect girls, through usually
practical of defamation and exclusion of groups.
“Bullying” occurs more easily in schools with a deficient supervision
on the part of the adults, either for the insufficient number of
education assistant or for the excess of pupils, and in schools where it
does not have one had playful and cultural accompaniment in the
intervals and free times.
When the aggressive pupils have conditions to continue to exert its
power, all the others finish for being, direct or undirected, affected.
The anxiety and the fear are accented generically, when the
aggressive behaviors do not bring any consequences for the pupils
who practice them.
The lack of preparation of the schools for these cases is problematic,
the professors attends, many times, the acts of violence of little
perceivable origin, that finish for being decided with punishments to
both the involved parts. The pupil, considered victim, is punished by
disturbs that he did not cause and he feels themselves, generally,
victim of an injustice being able later also it to come to be the causer
of new disturbs.

6
Main characteristics of the involved
pupils in “bullying”

Beyond the genetic predisposition for the aggressiveness, some

familiar conditions can develop the violence in the young children.
The authors of “bullying” are, normally, pertaining pupils for times the
families with an unbalanced affective relationship, where the parents
affirm its superiority through aggressive, verbal or physical behaviors,
or have excess of tolerance and permissive in the education of his
children.
The pupils victims of “bullying” are, generally, shine, unsafe young
and without physical resources to defend themselves. Consequently,
will be able to lower the pertaining to school performance and to try
to prevent the school precociously, abandoning it.
In more serious cases, they exactly arrive to enter in depressive
states.
It still has the pupils that they are witnesses of “bullying”, that they
attend and they coexist this type of violence between colleagues, but
that they prevent to speak on the problem, duly warned to be able to
be the next victims, or then because they do not believe the capacity
of the school to intervine.
Although not to suffer the aggressions directly, they can be felt
bothered and unsafe before the suffering of its colleagues (victims),
what also it can be reason of psychological upheaval.

7
Main Consequences

If they will not be discouraged, the causing pupils of “bullying” will be

able to keep this behavior throughout all its life, either in domestic or
professional environment, becoming antisocial, violent individual, and
some times, criminals.
The pupils victims of “bullying” can react of different forms,
consonant them personality, familiar and social relationships. Some
will be able not to surpass the traumas suffered in the school and to
grow with negative feelings in proper relation itself. In adult age, they
will be able to feel difficulties of relationship and until finishing for
adopting an aggressive behavior on that they consider more fragile.
Some extreme cases can, inclusively, lead to the suicide.

8
How to know if your educating practices
or is
victim of bullying?

It is difficult to have this perception, only if your educating tells the

events occurred in the school. Most of the acts of bullying occurs in
the absence of adults and, many times, dissimulated form. Most of
the victims do not tell the professors what append neither tell their
parents, finishing for facing the school as a place of danger and not
for learning.
To attenuate this situation trie to understand if exists some signal of
“bullying” in your son/educating that is: for example, if it is
aggressive with you, with the brothers or other familiar, once at
home, without apparent explanation he is excessively submisse. Talk
to him, to know if he feels well in the school. Make him questions
about the colleagues, if he has many or few friends and if he is
witness or target, or author of physical or psychological aggressions.
Show him that you are available to hear him and to advise.
Discourages always all the violence, either as aggression, either as
defense.
Enter in contact with the school and look to know the opinion of the
professors of your son, that is: if he is sociable, or if he is shy and he
tends to isolate himself, or if, for the opposite, he is violent to his
colleagues.

9
How to face the problem?

 To the children/young targets of “bullying”: it advises them to

ignore it, the moral nicknames and intimidations, to cultivate
friendships with not aggressive colleagues, to prevent the
places of risk in the school and to present complains to the
professors, whenever necessary. If possible, it speaks with the
Executive Advice of the School or with a professor who seems
more sensible to the problem and that he can follow the
situation, for example: the Director of Group.

 To the children/young authors of “bullying”: prevents the

punishments and the physical punishments, which will only
unchain more violence. Advise them to control them irritability
and to occupy the free times with peaceful activities that they
like (sport, games, music). Explains to them, insistently and
throughout the time that the friendship with people of different
personalities can bring useful benefits and leanings.

 To the children/young witnesses of acts of “bullying”:

Encourages them to intervene in defense of the victim, making
complains to a professor and don´t being complise with the
aggressor, in order to try to discourage him.

10
To identify and to treat this problem in useful time, involving
the aggressive pupils, attacked pupils, witnesses, professors
and parents or people in charge of education, therefore it is
essential as prevention form and reduction of cases of this
social torment.

Conclusion

Although the majority of the behaviors of bullying to occur in

the school, its prevention will have to center in all the
community. All the people have a paper important to play:
 Children and Young
 Family
 Schools
 Community
 Politicians/national level
