Apple Computer Setup Guide

Step 1 – Network Configuration

Click on Apple Icon >> System Preferences

Under the Internet & Network tab click on Network

Click on Location and select Edit Locations if the Maties location doesn't
already exist.
Add a new location named Maties. This location should be used for all our
settings.

After you created the new location click on Done

On your left select Ethernet and click on Advance.

• Click on the Proxies tab.

Select the following Protocols:

Web Proxy (HTTP)

Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)
FTP Proxy

For each three of these proxies add the following information on the right:

Server: proxy.sun.ac.za
Port: 3128

The next step is the configuration of the Bypass proxy settings for these
Hosts and Domains:

Add this line in the text box:

*.local, *.mymaties.com, *.maties.com, *.sun.ac.za, 146.232/16

• Click on the Ethernet tab.

Write down the Ethernet ID on the Indemnity Form under the LAN Mac heading

Click on Ok when all of these have been completed.

On your left select Airport and click on Advance.

• Click on the Proxies tab:

The following method is the same as the Ethernet configuration.

Select the following Protocols:

Web Proxy (HTTP)

Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)
FTP Proxy

For each three of these proxies add the following information on the right:

Server: proxy.sun.ac.za
Port: 3128

Next step is the configuration of the Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts
and Domains:

Add this line in the text box:

*.local, *.mymaties.com, *.maties.com, *.sun.ac.za, 146.232/16

• Click on the Airport tab

Write down the Airport ID on the Indemnity Form under the Wi-Fi Mac heading.

Click on Ok >> Apply

Now all the custom settings for the Maties Location is done.

Step 2 – NXInetkey

The next step is to get NXinetkey on the laptop.

Make sure the laptop is connected to the network either by wireless or

Ethernet.

Open Safari and enter the address: it.sun.ac.za

Scroll down to the heading NXInetkey Available.

Click on the NXInetkey for MAC OS X

A download box will appear and NXInetkey will be at the bottom.

Click on the small magnifying glass on the right of the download.

Drag the NXInetkey to Places >> Applications

Click on Applications and again drag the NXInetkey to the Dock (the shortcuts
bar on the Desktop)

And that's it.
