CHAPTER VIII — PREPOSITIONS ‘CASES FOR OBJECTS OF PREPOSITIONS The prepositions we have reviewed so far have taken either the Accusative or Ablative Cases. Here is a summary of those prepositions and a few new prepositions as well. Prepositions whose objects are in the Accusative Case: ad + acc. to, towards prope + acc. near in + acc. into super + acc. over, above per +acc. through trans + ace. across Prepositions whose objects are in the Ablative Case: 4, ab + abl. ‘away from, by in + abl. in, on cum + abl. ‘with pro + abl. ‘for, in front of, dé + abl. about, down from on behalf of 8 ex+ abl. out of sine + abl. without sub + abl. under NOTA BENE: Prepositions that take the Accusative Case show motion towards. Many prepositions which take the Ablative Case show location, motion atoay, or separation.
