‘CASES FOR OBJECTS OF PREPOSITIONS
The prepositions we have reviewed so far have taken either the Accusative or Ablative
Cases. Here is a summary of those prepositions and a few new prepositions as well.
Prepositions whose objects are in the Accusative Case:
ad + acc. to, towards prope + acc. near
in + acc. into super + acc. over, above
per +acc. through trans + ace. across
Prepositions whose objects are in the Ablative Case:
4, ab + abl. ‘away from, by in + abl. in, on
cum + abl. ‘with pro + abl. ‘for, in front of,
dé + abl. about, down from on behalf of
8 ex+ abl. out of sine + abl. without
sub + abl. under
NOTA BENE:
Prepositions that take the Accusative Case show motion towards.
Many prepositions which take the Ablative Case show location, motion atoay, or separation.
Be careful of the Latin preposition in, Followed by the Accusative it means into; followed by
the Ablative it means in or on,
