Interesting facts:
Why confront TB?¹
Because this disease affects the economically active
population, i.e. young people and adult heads of households, it is an important cause of school dropout. It is also the leading cause of death not associated with labor and delivery, in pregnant women. Additionally, because people affected by TB are victims of stigma and discrimination. Health Minister, Dr. Oscar Ugarte at the launching ceremony of the PEM TB Contact: Virginia Baffigo de Pinillos "The PEM TB, is not a formality, rather it is the current vbaffigo@care.org.pe Government’s commitment and should remain in place for all future governments so that the response against TB is assumed as a country commitment" said Dr. Ugarte.
