Global Business Pursuit Team

International and National Oil Companies and others are diversifying into unconventional hydrocarbon
resources as they seek to maintain their growth targets. Most recently we have seen a trend to
transfer the technology that has transformed the gas markets in USA to Europe, China and Russia,
amongst others.

It is expected that the opportunities generated by this trend will be increasingly in the form of large-
scale, integrated projects rather than a focus on a few product lines. Weatherford is uniquely
positioned to meet the needs of clients diversifying into the unconventional resources through its
breadth of services and technology as well as a proven track record in driving down costs.

In order to enable the regional business teams to be successful in capturing shale gas, tight gas, coal
seam gas, heavy oil and other unconventional resources tenders with a focus on the IOCs and
selected key players, we need to harness the expertise residing in Weatherford in “unconventional
resources” effectively as well as to gather more intelligence on developments in this sector. As a
result, a Special Projects Unit has been created within the Global Business Pursuit team to more
readily provide the necessary expertise to the organisation, benefit from sharing of the knowledge
across the regions/product lines and provide greater focus on capturing the opportunities in the
growing unconventional resources market.

I am pleased to advise that Robert Gales has been appointed Vice President – Resource Projects
within the Special Projects team. Robert will report to me and continue to be based in Dubai.
Rob Fulks has been appointed Director – Resource Projects and will also report to me. Rob will be
based in Houston.

Weatherford become a market leader in the Unconventional resources arena.
