    The ancient Greeks were polytheistic and worshipped many powerful gods and goddesses. Some of the most famous deities included Zeus, king of the gods who ruled from Mount Olympus, Hera the goddess of marriage, Athena the goddess of war and wisdom, Apollo the god of the sun, healing and music, and Poseidon the god of seas and oceans. Mount Olympus was thought to be the home of the most powerful gods and where they would hold meetings and resolve arguments.

    believed in many powerful Gods,
    they were polytheistic.
    Different Greeks worshipped different gods. Certainly there were
    hundreds. Some famous Gods and Goddesses are:

    Zeus
    Hare
    Athena
    Apollo
    Poseidon
    The most
    powerful of
    these were
    thought to live
    high up on
    Mount Olympus.
    This was ruled by Zeus, the King of Gods and
    was the place where arguments were
    resolved and meetings held.
