Distant Thunder of the Sacred Forest (2003) – Michael Sweeney
Western music has developed to favour the relationship of melody and harmony with rhythm. Rhythms are highly Vehicle
regimented and depend on everyone reaching the same place at the same time. African music has developed favouring Featuring Solos by:
the relationship of rhythms, how they interconnect and emerge from one and other. This piece offers a glimpse of the
complexity of rhythm as the whole group solidifies into a united vision of melody and harmony. Inspired by the forest
regions of West Africa.

Brouhaha
Vehicle (1969) (arr 2008) – James M. Peterik arr. Paul Murtha Featuring Solos by:
A powerhouse rock and roll classic. When James Peterik wrote this song he was in a newly plutonic relationship with
this once girlfriend. Mixed signals caused plenty of tension. “One day in a fit of frustration, I heard myself blurt out to
her "You know, all I am to you is your "Vehicle". Just then the light bulb popped up on top of my head and I thought
about all the guys like me who don't mind being taken for a ride by a beautiful girl.” Gospel John
Featuring Solos by:
Brouhaha (2009) – Les Sabina
Noun. (broo-hah-hah) - an episode involving excitement, confusion, turmoil, etc., especially a broil over a minor or
ridiculous cause: A brouhaha by the RSS Jazz Band caused three Tuba related injuries…

Gospel John (1971) – Jeff Steinberg arr. Bob Lowden

This arrangement of the classic tune combines some elements of Gospel with Jazz.
