What is Laser Cutting and why use this process?

Co2 Laser Cutting machine can cut through most materials because of high powered electricity
that is directed through the machine through a series of optics to a cutting head where different
assist gases help the process of cutting through materials e.g:

 Oxygen is used to cut through Mild Steel.

 Air is used to cut through Timbers and Acrylics.
 High Pressure Nitrogen is used for cutting through Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Gal and
Zinc coated Mild Steel and Brass.

Laser Cutting is preferred because:

 No tooling costs.
 Designs can easily be change at no or minimum costs.
 No burrs or sharp edges.
 Square edge of the cut.
 Fast, quite and efficient and can cut through most materials.
 The thin cut of a Laser beam, means that there is minimal waste between items and
therefore getting the most use of material and keeping costs down.
 The amount of energy to cut through materials is concentrated, therefore there is minimal
heat when Laser Cutting.
