The third Tuesday in May turned out to be an absolutely

open
great weather to participate in the seventh match of
the 2006 ATAG season. All ATAG tee times were
booked well in advance by those eager and appreciative
of the opportunity, although two players were no shows
(more on this later). Teams were assembled in
accordance with the players’ order of arrival as follows:

12 UNDER WINS IT! TWO PLAYERS
FORFEIT THEIR WINNINGS!
The second group of Jim Williamson, Ron Majors,
Richard Batelaan, and Mike Gutt edged past the first
group to win the match with a score of 12 under, yet
Batelaan and Gutt did not wait for the other groups to
finish and thus forfeited
their bounty. The patrons for this evening were Henry
Sawyer, Andy Tyber, Ollie Kennon, and Lee Pearson.
(Since Don Nichols’s score was picked at random to drop
out of the scoring, he was relieved (to his relief) of his
obligation to buy.)

BATELAAN WINS LOW GROSS AND

LOW NET! SELLNER ON A ROLL!
Eleven handicapper Richard Batelaan’s 37 earned him
both the Low Gross and Low Net Award, edging out
seven handicapper Lee Pearson by one stroke for low
gross and ending up at a net 5 under for low net. (He
has been called to appear before the Handicap
Committee.) On the flip side, Craig Sellner continued

It was then that Henry Sawyer painstakingly pointed out
to the exuberant Mr. Tyber that it was Mr. Sawyer’s ball
that Tyber had majestically jettisoned out of the rough
and onto the green. His reload landed short and he did
not get up and down, but it didn’t matter because under

that hole.

requiring the last two groups to play as fivesomes. The
Commissioner has decreed that these two players are
also suspended for one match, to be served on
Tuesday, May 30, 2006, and are required to complete
fifty five minutes of ATAG community service during
the suspension period.

OTHER TIDBITS:
▪ It was another great evening on the porch as most
players stayed around to enjoy the legendary ATAG
camaraderie, with many staying to 9 pm.

▪ Rick Eaton made a cameo appearance on the porch

to extend his congratulations to the Commissioner for
his speedy recovery and return to action. Also, Danny
Morris hoisted his glass and led the group in a toast
welcoming back the Commissioner who appeared
humbled by the gesture.

▪ How valuable is a slot in the ATAG tee times? Check

out the quotes in this issue and also note that, while
celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary last weekend in
Rome, Italy, Jim Williamson made sure to fire off an e-
mail that Saturday from a cyber cafe to reserve a spot for
the following Tuesday’s match.

▪ And, finally, the Commissioner has asked me to

express his thanks to all those who had expressed their
concern and best wishes for him during the
ATAG Commissioner’s absence the past two weeks. He is now
Ansley Tuesday Afternoon back in action (as evidenced by the disciplinary rulings in
Golf Tour this week’s match) and hopes to not miss any more
Ansley Golf Club matches of the 2006 season.
