AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2011—Steel

NEW FEATURES IN 3D MODEL

Import of structure model from Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis

A license of AutoCAD Robot Structural Analysis is no longer required to import a structure model to
AutoCAD Structural Detailing.

Import/export of structure model from/to Revit® Structure

Arc elements and groups can now be exchanged with Revit Structure, and new capabilities have been
added for identification of the element cross-sections.

Database of anchorage bolts for American market

New database of user-defined objects containing American anchorage bolts with the appropriate
washers and nuts have been added.
In a spread footing connection it is now possible to filter the foundation anchors according to imperial
or metric format.

Configuration for German and Austrian market

This version includes templates, printout formats, and databases with the settings that meet the
requirements of the German and Austrian market.

Bolt databases according to NF E 27-311, DIN 931 and ISO4041 standards

It is now possible to select bolts consistent with the NF E 27-311, DIN 931, and ISO4041 standards.
The length of bolts is matched automatically by the program based on the thickness of the connected
elements.

NEW FEATURES IN DRAWINGS AND TABLES

Omitting elements that were not subject to machining in the automatic drawings
The functionality of automatic drawing generation has been extended as concerns omitting the
elements that were not subject to machining; that is, those elements that have vertical and flat cuts
at the ends. This new feature applies to both profiles and plates.

Arrangement of elements in the drawing

The grouping and justifying of elements in the automatically generated drawings has been improved.

Table of elements not subject to machining

This new table includes the elements that were not subject to machining, as well as the elements that
have vertical and flat cuts at the ends.

NEW FEATURES IN CONNECTIONS AND PARAMETRIC STRUCTURES

Parameterization of undercuts in connections

In beam-to-beam connections it is now possible to define the size of the undercut to the upper/lower
plane of the adjoining element.

Beam-to-beam web with rib connection

In a beam-to-beam web with rib connection it is now possible to modify the location of the connecting
rib on the right/left side of the adjoining element.
AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2011— Reinforcement

BASIC FUNCTIONALITY

Bar shape code

The program now automatically recognizes a bar shape and assigns the shape code to it. This option
is applicable to all types of reinforcement definition: manual bar definition, surface reinforcement,
reinforcement defined by using macro, and reinforcement imported from Revit Structure and Autodesk
Robot Structural Analysis.
For projects defined in earlier versions, there is now a command for changing the reinforcement into
reinforcement with code assigned.

New functionalities for surface bar distribution

The option for defining surface distribution was extended to define constant length of bars in
segments.
Grouping reinforcement bars in sectors of the same length allows for smaller bar length differentiation
in elements with inclined edges, thus unifying reinforcement and speeding up production and
execution.

Printout composition - drawings as blocks

The capability to arrange printouts has been extended by adding drawings as blocks. This alternative
to using viewports is particularly beneficial for large files containing many elements.

Rotation of reinforcement tables

The RC tables can now be rotated.

Bar code in shape and distribution descriptions

You can now add the bar code to the bar description syntax and bar distribution.

Bar end symbols

The method of marking ends of bars without hooks according to the BS Standard code has been
extended and improved.

Import reinforcement drawings from Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis

Drawings created in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis program can now be uploaded even when a
Robot license is not available.

Countrification
New codes, as well as reinforcement bar databases and templates have been added for the following
countries: Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Australia.

Definition of bar types according to ACI standards

You can now define new bar shape on the base of the existing bar type using the zero definition of
the segment’s length.
Integration
A new method of defining reinforcement for structure elements (such as beams, columns, or spread
footings imported from Revit Structure provides for automatic definition of additional sections
containing reinforcement.

STRUCTURE ELEMENTS

Structure elements import arbitrary reinforcement from Revit Structure

For typical structure elements, such as columns, beams, and spread footings it is possible to import
reinforcement with consideration of any user-defined reinforcement from Revit Structure.

Export of drawings of typical structure element framework from Revit Structure

You can now export the formwork drawings for typical structure elements used in Revit Structure. The
element geometry obtained this way, as well as the application of a wide range of AutoCAD Structural
Detailing tools to define the reinforcement, allow more freedom in creating an individual
reinforcement for typical structure elements.
Drawings Generator
AutoCAD Structural Detailing has been enriched with a generator of reinforcement drawings of
structure elements. For RC elements such as beams, columns, and spread footings defined in Revit
Structure or Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, reinforcement drawings can be created in accordance
with the previously defined settings of AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Reinforcement.

NEW FEATURES IN 3D MODEL

Lintels – definition of the total length

You can now define a lintel by giving its full length independent of the width of the hole. This option
allows quicker definition of similar lintels for holes of different width.

Copying/ moving openings between the floors

The user can now copy or move openings to the given floors.
Detection of the elements (walls, slabs) takes place in the program and holes can be copied or moved
to them.

Definition of the elements in a local coordinate system

Elements can now be defined in the current local coordinate system, making it quicker and more
convenient to model buildings.

Broadening of the INFO option functionality

The INFO option has been expanded with information about the lower and upper levels of a given
element. The information shown in the INFO option has been grouped into blocks to increase
readability of the element data.

Offset for linear elements

You can now use the Offset command for linear elements, such as beams, walls, and continuous
footings. In many cases this will make the process of construction modeling quicker.

NEW FEATURES IN DRAWINGS

Level symbol in the plan view drawings

For drawings such as story and foundation plans, the new level symbol, entered by the user,
automatically detects the element’s level in the specified place of the view.

Rotation of the tables

Free rotation of tables is now available in printouts arranged by the user.

Printout composition - drawings as blocks

The capability to arrange printouts has been extended by adding drawings as blocks. This alternative
to using viewports is particularly beneficial for large files containing many elements.

Simple dimension – selection of the elements during dimensioning

During the definition of the simple dimension you can now select the elements to be considered,
regardless of the general settings. In atypical cases this will streamline the process of dimensioning a
drawing.
Dimensioning – minimum value of the dimension
Simple and group dimensions now allow for definition of a minimum dimension value that will be
omitted during dimensioning. Using this option improves drawing- clarity at smaller scales.
