THE I-RISE BAKERY

BOING!!! So it looks like spring has finally sprung, though you might not have thought so with
all the intense weather we had in March. Many many people worldwide have been affected by
the omnipotence of almighty Mother Nature in these last few weeks, and our prayers go out to all
those who've lost loved ones & livelihoods. Another fortunate reminder for all of us how blessed
we are to simply have the gift of life--count your blessings daily. And right now the sun's shining
so praise Jah!
Those of you on the Wednesday SLV route will be seeing a new face on the scene. Long-time I-
Rise Bakery supporter & good friend Sean has stepped up to take over deliveries on the SLV
route to give the Rising I more time to bake, but especially to plan out the major expansion that
should be taking place this year. We are working on getting out of the garage & into a proper
commercial kitchen. More on this as things develop, but for now, you mountain folks be nice to
Sean. We will all be doing our best to make a smooth transition, and thanks in advance for your
patience as we work through any wrinkles along the way. We're really stoked to have some help,
we've been running pretty ragged these days, and we're especially excited to be making big plans
for the future!
But as for the here & now, it's bread time! This month we start off with the crunch-tastic Millet-
Polenta-Sesame bread, a perfect multi-purpose loaf. The Poppy Seed-Pecan for Week #2 is just a
variation on one of our most popular loaves, just using pecans instead of walnuts. It's one of our
favorites! We were eating pancakes when we were thinking up breads for the April menu and
thought, why not try a Maple-Buckwheat bread? Inspired by the pancakes that Grammy used to
make, this should be a good one. We'll finish off April with a true classic, the 3-Seed Rye
Sourdough.
And on the Specials menu we have our ever-popular Mega Omega Granola, loaded with nuts &
seeds full of those beneficial Omega fats, plus dried blueberries for their antioxidant properties
and sweet delicious plumpness. We got a few requests for our Coconut-Almond-Chocolate Chip
Cookies in the last few months, so we've got those on the menu again, too. We're excited for the
Apricot-Pecan Scones, they're yummy! And if you like Banana bread you've got to try Papa G's--
super moist & full of bananas, it's definitely NOT average. Check it out.
So sure it's pretty easy to get all doom-n-gloom looking at all the turmoil all over these days, but
don't believe the hype. Change happens, has happened, will always happen. But where there's
life, there's hope. If we bought the hype, we'd all be dust sometime after Dec. 2012, but we plan
on delivering bread in Jan. 2013. Hope you're all still with us. PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
