  AREA SPECIFIC LITERATURE REVIEW 

STEP ‐ 1 

  From assignment 1 and 2, you must now have identified the area in which you have further your 
understanding. In this assignment, you are advised to choose 1 paper, from the pool of 5 papers 
that  you  selected  in  assignment  1.  Be  careful  in  choosing  your  paper,  as  your  subsequent 
assignments may be greatly affected by your choice.  

STEP ‐ 2 

  Read the paper, selected in step‐1 as carefully and thoroughly as possible. You must be able to 
clearly  understand  every  bit  of  the  paper,  every  figure,  every  mathematical  expression,  every 
table, etc. For this purpose, you may have to goggle a lot of times. You may have to read some 
other papers, cited in the text and referenced at the end of your selected paper. While consulting 
various  sources,  do  keep  track  (citation)  of  your  every  reference.  In  summary,  conduct  a 
thorough Literature Review in the selected area. Do read at least 2 more papers in the concerned 
area (these papers must be the top references of your selected paper).  

STEP ‐ 3 

  Document  a  draft,  explaining  historical  developments  in  the  area.  The  draft  must  follow  a 
thematic flow of ideas. Do consider reading some research proposals available online, especially 
the Literature Review section, and consider how the authors comprehend their ideas.     

Precautions: 

1. Be professional in the use of proper language.  

2. Please make sure that you submit your assignment in Latex. 

3. Any kind of copy paste (from the original paper) will cause a zero grade in this 
assignment.
