The negotiations leading upto the passage of tae PPACA lasted for ‘more than a year and involved numerous meetings between representatives ofthe Administration and various interest groups, including the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).' Given the secrecy with which the Administration conducted its aealth care reform negotiations, there is substantial public intrest in learning moe abou! them. On February 18, 2011, we wrote to Ms. Nancy-Ann DeParl, the forme head ofthe White House Offic of Health Reform (WEOHR), requesting information related to those negotiations. In response, on March 4, 2011, Mr. Rober Bauer, Counsel othe President, sent us a clletion of press releases end visitor logs "in an effort to adress [our] request” This information was not responsive to ‘our request. Although we will most certainly pursue more information from the White House, we are ‘writing to you because among the materials provided by Mr. Bauer was a submission by the ‘SEIU to the White House regarding health care reform. Because SEIU worked directly withthe WHOHR, we request that you provide information regarding the SEIU’s meetings and discussions with the WHOHR and any other ‘Administration officials relating to health care reform. The relevant time period for the following requests is March 2, 2009, tothe present. Please provide the following documents and information within two weeks ofthe date ofthis letter: 1. A list of each employee or representative of the SEIU who discussed reforms or changes 1o the health care system with any employee, deailee or any other representative of the WHOHR, the White House, or the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Provide alist of your officers and directors for 2009 and 2010, Please include a ist of the individuals from the Administration with whom SEIU representatives discussed such reforms or changes 2. A list ofeach meeting, briefing or telephone call (including conference calls or video conferences) regarding reforms or changes to the health care system, between any employee or representative ofthe SEIU and any employee, detailee or any other representative ofthe WHOHR, the White House, or HHS.
