Diet Chart For Heart Patients.

MEAL TIMING FOOD ITEMS


EARLY MORNING 1 Glass luke warm Lemon water(before walk).

BREAKFAST 1 Bowl Suji Upma / Cornflakes / Panner Sanwitch /


Dalia Oats + 1 Glass Skimmed Milk (200ml-500ml)
/ Tofu with less Sugar 1 Glass.
MID MORNING Fruit one whole like Papaya / Apple / Orange /
Pomegranate (anar).
LUNCH 1 Bowl Dal + 1 Bowl any Seasonal Veg +2-3 Chapati
/ 1-2 Bowl Brown rice + Salad + Curd.

EVENING TEA 1 Cup Tea + Roasted Chana / Sprouts / Poha /


Murmure / 2 Marie Gold Biscuit. 1-½ Plate Salad
with Lemon Dressing (15 min before Lunch.

DINNER 1 Bowl dal / 1 Bowl any Veg like Soyabean / Lotus


stem / Mix Veg etc + Any Green Peafy Veg. +2-3
Chapati + Salad. (Chapati=7Kg Wheat flour +
1½Kg Soyabean flour + 1½Kg Bangle gram flour).

Food Should Be Avoided


1.Avoid all types of fats like ghee, oil, butter, refined oil etc.
2.Avoid poories, parathas, samosa, kachori, jam, jelly, junk and market produts.
3.Avoid pickles, papad and table salts.
4.Avoid full cream milk and its produts.
5.Avoid Fruit Juices / Soft drink / Market beverage.
6.Avoid some fruits like mango, banana, chiku, grapes.
7.Take some vegetables like potato, arbi, kathal jimikand in moderate quantity.
8.Take some pulses like rajma, chana, chole in moderate quantity.
9.Take very low salt food and avoid extra salt.
10.Avoid all nuts and dry fruits (Groundnuts, almonds etc.)
11.Avoid all bakery products like cake pastries, paties, cakes etc.
12.Avoid soups (tinned, packet soups)
13.Avoid sweets which contains fats and oils ( kaju, barfi, gajar halwa).
Food Should Be Included
1.Take skimmed / toned milk and its products (not more than 200-500 ml / day).
2.Include whole grains and pulses like whole wheat flour(atta),corn,dal,jowar,oatmeal
(jow)in your diet.
3.Take fruits like papaya, apple, guava, lichi, anar, green apple etc.
4.Take all seasonal vegetables in good quantity except the 4 (which should be
avoided).
5.Include soups (home made), salad and sprouts in your meal, those are good for heart.
6.Include soyabean and its products like to be in your meal.
General Instructions
1.Include fiber in your diet green, vegetables, fruits, whole dal, whole grains etc.
2.Small and frequent diet is recommended.
3.If you are obese weight maintenance is must.
4.Prefer "minimum oil” cooking for your food.

Diet for the heart patients


Heart attack kills about 20-30 lacs people in this country per year. The number of heart
patients in Rural India is about 14% and in Urban India is 27% and the number of such
patients are increasing everyday. Diet forms an important role in preventing these heart
attacks. Diet with lifestyle changes has also shown to lead to reversal and prevention of
Heart disease.

1. Avoid all kinds of oils: Oils are also known as Triglycerides which form a major part
of the blockages. So, Heart patients should avoid all kinds of oil (Saturated or Mono-
unsaturated or Polyunsaturated) during cooking. Scientifically speaking all oils is
Triglycerides and is harmful for Blockages.. Our body's minimum requirement of fats
will come from innate oils present in every food (called Invisible fat).

2. Avoid all kinds of Animal Food: All kinds of meat are rich sources of cholesterol,
they too can lead to heart disease. For preventing of heart disease, Heart patients should
avoid chicken, mutton, fish, pork, red meat or white meat. Heart patients should also
avoid whole milk because it having cholesterol, but milk has a quality, if we have boil the
milk and put for some time and remove all cream, it can be used because it has no
cholesterol.

3. Eat appropriate calories: Calories is required for doing any activities. Heart patient
have consume appropriate calories from carbohydrate and protein. Carbohydrate rich
food is Cereals, Sugar, Fruits, Vegetables and Salads. Protein rich food is all Pulses, Dal,
Cereals or milk etc.

4. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables: Heart patients should include lots of fruits and
vegetables in their diet. Fruits and vegetables have rich source of Fiber and Antioxidant
(VitaA, VitaC, VitaE).Fiber and Antioxidant have protect the body from Heart Disease.
