of the revised 1930 edition of the work originally published by John Lane,
The Bodley Head. The present edition differs in the following respects:

Two of the four plates printed in color in earlier editions (there was no
color in the 1930) are reproduced here in color, in addition to their black-
and-white reproductions in the 1930 numerical sequence. The other two
plates, Nos. 75 and 76 of the present volume, were originally printed in

green ink.

The frontispiece and title-page frame of the original editions now appear in

their proper numerical sequence as Plates i and 2.

The reproductions in this volume have been made from the best available
editions or collections of Beardsley's work.
