7 Eleven, Inc. was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1927.7-Eleven; Inc. is the world's largest operator, franchisor and licensor of convenience stores with more than 24,000 units worldwide. The company name was changed from The Southland Corporation after approval by shareholders in 1999.Year 2004 7-Eleven installed HP servers and networking switches in all US stores for implementation of RIS (Retail Information system).This system collect data from point of sales terminals in every store and transmits the same to central database. T.B Oracle Database is managed by EDS to store 6 Million US customers transactions every day across country. BACKGROUND OF 7-Eleven
7-Eleven pioneered the concept of convenience in 1927 at the Southland Ice Company in Dallas, Texas. In addition to selling blocks of ice to refrigerate food, an employee of the enterprising ice dock began offering milk, bread and eggs on Sundays and evenings when grocery stores are closed. Today, 7-Eleven is the undisputed leader in the distribution of convenience.
