The study was designed to investigate the instructional practices of a group of teachers teaching in a private primary school in Jos metropolis. The results indicated that all rhe teachers were professionally qualified; 67 % of them had NCE or bachelor's degree certificates. The literacy situation in the school was poor, as only about 40 % of the pupils could be described as good readers.
