com This morning, Michael Simanowitz, longtime chief of staff to former Assemblymember Nettie Mayersohn, was officially nominated by the Queens County Democratic Organization to be the Democratic candidate in the September 13th special election for the 27th Assembly District. Simanowitz has been active in Queens civic life, where he grew up and is now raising his own family. Working for Mayersohn from 1996 until her retirement in April of this year, he has a long record of working with community leaders, elected officials and Democratic Party leaders throughout Queens County. In addition, he is the Treasurer of the Queens County Democratic Organization and a Democratic District Leader. For the last 15 years, Simanowitz has also been a member of the 107 Precinct Auxiliary Unit, serving as Commanding Officer since 2002. Its been an honor to serve the people of the 27th district for the past 15 years with my mentor Nettie Mayersohn.
