1-32 Items 12 (ANTI SKID system) and 6 (Main wheel brakes) _______ CAUTION : THIS PROCEDURE IS TO BE USED ACCORDING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MEL. IF THE BRAKE UNIT IS SEIZED OR DAMAGE EXISTS ON STATORS, ROTORS OR TORQUE TUBE, REMOVE BRAKE UNIT FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH 2. 1. Deactivation without Brake Removal __________________________________ A. Equipment and Materials ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ITEM DESIGNATION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------(1)Material No. 08-061 Special Materials (Ref. 20-31-00) (2) Lockwire Referenced Procedure - 32-42-27, P. Block 401 Brake Unit B. Procedure _______ CAUTION : MAKE CERTAIN THAT WHEEL CHOCKS ARE IN POSITION. MAKE CERTAIN THAT PARKING BRAKE CONTROL HANDLE IS IN NORMAL (RELEASED) POSITION BEFORE DEACTIVATION. CHECK THAT ALL BRAKE PISTONS ARE RELEASED. (1)Loosen the two knurled sleeves of the couplings to turn and disconnect. (2)Wipe sleeve clean and apply 2 or 3 turns of 20 to 30 mm wide self adhesive fabric tape around sleeve. (3)Tightly wind 3 or 4 turns of lockwire around mid-area of the tape-lagged sleeve. Twist lockwire and run it through the nearest or most accessible locking hole drilled in the hexagonal part of the fixed half-coupling tension lockwire and twist. (4)Tie up supply lines on brake unit. (5)Slowly open and tighten both bleed screws for residual brake pressure trapped in the brake. C. Tests (1)Pressurize brakes and check for leakage. (2)Place a temporary placard in the flight compartment warning flight crew that brake unit No. 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) is deactivated. (3)Make an entry in the aircraft technical log. D. Reactivation (1)Refer to TSM 32-42-00. _______ CAUTION : DO NOT FORGET TO INSTALL THE SAFETY PIN ON THE QUICK DISCONNECT. ____ NOTE : Before connecting the self-sealing couplings, check the absence of damage and foreign particles in the seal groove area of the male part as well as on the female part (area of the nipple). The male and female parts, particularly the inners areas must be cleaned. Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate it before installation with used fluid.
