Comments: Maternity: Sara is a kind and enthusiastic student who always came prepared to give comprehensive care to the wide variety of patients seen in the maternity rotation. She is particularly interested in helping others, an important skill in nursing. Active listening skills are growing. I would encourage her to slow down a bit to ascertain the listeners energy before delivering her own. This will greatly enhance her assessments and responsiveness. Time management skills are improving. With continued skill acquisition, she will gain further confidence and competence in the role of the student nurse. I have no doubts she will become a fine nursing leader in the future. I wish her well in her very bright academic and clinical future. Pediatrics: Saras major strengths are a willingness to function as part of a team, a bright and intellectually curious mind, and a compassionate and sensitive bedside manner. She will continue to
work to improve her confidence in multiple assignments, time management and organization, and to expand her knowledge base. A pediatric setting was ideal for Saras energy and she is working to focus the energy into appropriate nursing decision making, but will benefit from watching professional behavior and imitating until she understands. She has demonstrated tremendous growth over this term. Sara is a developing second semester student who is well prepared for her next rotation. She has demonstrated compassionate and appropriate care to children, incorporating critical thinking, ethical practice, and beginning leadership ability. I enjoyed having her as my student.
