The area of the project is image processing and pattern recognition and matching.

Since the availability of retinal image processing systems which are similar to the concept of processing a Fundus image the challenge would be to select the most suitable pre-processing method, extract the features of the Fundus image, compare and contrast and forecasting. Main challenge in research would be the gathering the domain knowledge which required to the system since its a foreign domain for computer engineering. Since the Fundus Images are colorized images and will have incorrect boundaries due to blood vessels crossing the optic disk, pre-processing of the Fundus image would be a challenge. Another challenge in pre-processing and feature extraction would arise since Fundus images will not have exact position of the optical disk or the color contrast due to different types of Fundus Cameras.
