Standard Competence : Speaking 1.1. Expressing meaning in formal and sustained transactional and interpersonal conversations in daily life context Basic Competence : Expressing meaning in very simple transactional (to get things done) and interpersonal conversations (to socialize) using oral language style accurately, fluently, and appropriately in daily life context for the functions of asking for opinion and giving opinion : Students are able to identify the expressions of asking and giving opinion Students are able to write a dialogue about asking for opinion and giving opinion Students are able to perform the dialogue about asking for opinion and giving opinion I. Greet the students: Good morning class. How are you today? Good, I hope everyone are ready to follow todays activity. Checking attendance (Call up the students name)
Recalling the relevant previous lesson

(To the class) Ok students, we have learned a lot of English expressions before. Do you still remember? We have learned about expressions to express our satisfaction, dissatisfaction, etc. Is there anybody here who can give me the example of those expression?

All right,Fredy. What is it? (Teacher asks some students to mention the examples of expressions of satisfaction, dissatisfaction, etc.)

Teacher indirectly tells the learning objectives Well students, today we are going to learn another English expressions that is the expressions of asking and giving opinion. Im sure that all of us must be familiar with a situation in which we need someones opinion or maybe we are asked to say what do we think about certain matter. After this lesson, I expect you to be able to write a dialogue and perform it in front of the class. You will work in groups and a group must consist of four students. Teacher tells the topic of the activity So, our topic today is about expressions of asking for opinion and giving opinion. B. Main Activity (75 minutes) Teacher introduces the expressions of asking for opinion and giving opinion and shows some examples of the expressions. Teacher presents dialogues about asking for opinion and giving opinion Teacher asks three students to practice the dialogues. Teacher asks the students to identify the expressions of asking for opinion and giving opinion in the dialogue. Teacher manages the students to work in group of four to write a dialogue about asking for opinion and giving opinion Teacher gives a topic for each group. Teacher gives the students time (around ten minutes) to practice the dialogue in their own group.

Teacher chooses the group to perform the dialogue. C. Post Activity (5 minutes) Teacher reviews the lesson and check students understanding about how to ask for opinion and give opinion Well, you have already learned about expressions of asking for opinion and giving opinion. So, if we want to ask for someones opinion, we can say ................ (elicits the students answer). And, if we want to give opinion, we can say ................ (elicits the students answer).
