What to do now you have your GCSE results:

A brief guide to the options available.

The Options:
Now you have received your GCSE s you have several options the most common being: Continue in Education Look for an Apprenticeship Seek employment / Start a business

Continue in Education: Level 3


This option can suit all outcomes in your GCSE exams. If you have achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including Mathematics and English you are able to apply to study A Levels and other Level 3 courses offered at the Wisbech Sixth Form Partnership and other providers in local areas such as in Kings Lynn. Many Level 3 vocational courses, such Diplomas will also accept students with 4/5 GCSE s grade C and above.

Continuing in Education may be the right option for you.

Continue in Education: Level 2


If you have 4 C/D grades at GCSE it is likely that the best option for you would be to apply for Level 2 courses. Level 2 qualifications include GCSEs and a variety of vocational courses.
Vocational qualifications may suit you.

Continue in Education:
Level 1 and Entry Level

Level 1 course entry criteria varies depending on the nature of the course from 4 GCSEs at Grade F and above, to a specified number of D/E grades, some rely on an interview to assess suitability. There are also Entry level courses, these generally do not require any previous qualifications.

Apprenticeships & Advanced Apprenticeships


Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience. As an employee, you can earn as you learn, gaining practical skills from the workplace. To find and apply for Apprenticeships vacancies visit: apprenticeships.org.uk and www.youthoria.org/home/work/apprenticeshipstraining/1239097170.441/ An advantage of choosing an Apprenticeship is that all apprentices are paid a minimum of 2.50 per hour and complete a Level 2 or 3 qualification. Research has found that apprentices can earn an average of 170 per week.

Apprenticeship in Equine is one of the many available courses locally.

Seeking employment
Seeking employment is an option which should be considered carefully before it is chosen since not all work positions provide opportunities for advancement. Many careers advertise the requirement for staff with formal qualifications. Therefore a greater quantity of jobs would be available for you to choose between later if you continue in Education now.
