This term comes within the extended definition of ‘sale’ under the Food Safety

Act. It means that if food is ‘exposed for sale’ there is a presumption that it is

actually for sale. This applies particularly in the case of:

a)food exposed for sale by the organisers of any entertainment to which

the public is admitted (whether or not they are admitted for money)

where it is offered as a prize or reward or given away in connection

with any entertainment;

b)where, for the purpose of advertisement or to further trade or busi-

ness, it is offered as a prize or reward or given away; and

c)where it is exposed or deposited in any premises for the purpose of

being so offered or given away.
