A serious situation can arise which could result in a need to recall certain prod-

ucts from the market place. How to recover the product from the market place

quickly, quietly and efficiently, without attracting the attention of the media, is

a subject which has been pursued by the food industry at great lengths over

the last decade, largely as a result of various food sabotage incidents and national

food safety scares.

There should be a formal product recall procedure, with an identified senior

manager responsible for implementing the various levels of recall, both

nationally and locally.
