Wall surfaces in food rooms must be impervious and capable of being readily

cleaned. Light colours should be used to enable the state of cleanliness to be

assessed easily.

Ideal wall surfaces include ceramic tiles, plastic-coated panels, stainless steel

and polypropylene sheeting. Painted surfaces need regular examination to ensure

there is no flaking of the paint.

Where appropriate, wall surfaces should be protected by some form of barrier

to prevent damage to same from trolleys, trucks, lift trucks, etc
