About Chinoy In March 1998, a group of young Celadoneans led by Oscar Tan (BS ME/ AB EcoH 01) launched

the maiden issue of Chinoy. This 12-page tabloid-sized compilation of edited freshmen essays aimed to become the voice that provided the entire Ateneo community with a deeper understanding of the Chinese-Filipino culture. More than just a creative outlet, Chinoy was conceived for the purpose of challenging our understanding of this fusion of cultures. Now on its 13th year, Chinoy has integrated itself to become the flagship project of Celadons Communications and Publications department. Likewise, it has also evolved to become Celadons official publication publishing more than just feature articles but also Celadon event write-ups. Despite the changes, Chinoy to this date still remains faithful to its original purpose. We continue to probe social issues and stereotypical topics through the lens of a modern Chinoy, while showing that the ChineseFilipino culture offers much more intellectual stories than just the great wall of love. In the end, Chinoy is all about answering questions and introducing new viewpoints, posing pieces worth thinking about not only for fellow Celadoneans but also for the entire community of readers.
