Polyhedral Unit Origami

Pockets

Hands Start from Step 6 of the bird cube. Make one extra crease as shown. The unit will look like this. Note the hands and pockets. Slot 3 units together to make this pyramid shape. This is the building block for making more complex shapes. Note the circle showing top of the pyramid.

Star Tetrahedron - 12 units

Start with the star tetrahedron shape, it requires 12 units. The base of this shape is a square. 4 pyramids are joined to make a complete face. Note the relationship between the circles marking the tops of the pyramids on the models. The first time is always the hardest, and so take your time.

Icosahedron - 30 units
Once you have mastered the star tetrahedron, prepare 30 units and make this great icosahedron. The base of the icosahedron is the regular pentagon. 5 pyramids are joined to make a complete face. You can rotate the finished model and always count 5 pyramids on each face. This one requires more patience. Good luck!
