Education The George Mason University, Department of Modern and Classical Languages invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Spanish Linguistics to begin August 2012. The ideal candidate will have a strong research program in Spanish language education. Expertise in heritage language education, K-12 teaching, and/or community service learning is a plus. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching language courses at all levels. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, as well as evidence of familiarity with the use of instructional technology are required. George Mason University is the largest public university in Virginia and has a culturally and linguistically diverse student body. The department offers a major and minor in Spanish, as well as master's degrees in Spanish and in Spanish/multicultural education; and is actively engaged with the Latino population, and other relevant units of the university including English Linguistics, Anthropology and Global Affairs. Teaching load: 2/2 at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels. Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment.
