V Guess what? This coming Friday is my last day in NewYork.
A Wow, howtime flies... Aren't you happy?
V Well, I have mixed feelings about it. I got used to manythings
here. On the other hand, I miss my parents and friends badly.
A Come on, look at the bright side. In a few days you'll be with
them again.
V Let's drop the subject. Howdo you feel about going to a good-
bye party with me? We've gota good reason for a night out on
the town.
A Who's going to be.there?
V Most ofthe students and a few of the teachers from AAB. Do
you remember Harry Collis, a struggling novelist?
A Of course, I do. I bumped into himat "Barnes and Noble" a
couple of months ago. He looked so down that I figured
\ something was wrong.
V Well, you'll be amazedwhen you see him at the party. Harry is
a totally different person now. He feels he's on top of the
world.
A What a change! I've always wanted to knowhow losers turn
into winners.
V Well, when his recent novel failed to make a big splash, he
was at the end of his rope. I met him at AAB where he came
to kill time and make a couple of newfriends. Fortunately, he
took Professor Stern's course on banking.
A So what? As far asl know, you're also scheduledfor this

personality, had no trouble finding sponsors for his project.
They say he's the most successful mortgage broker
nowadays.
A You see, Victor, it's a matter of being in the right place at the
right time.
V So, how about going to the restaurant? Your dinner is on me.

Hello. Welcome to "Water's Edge". Are you ready to
order?
I need a couple of minutes to make up my mind. When I eat
out, I usually choose something I don't cook at home.
Fine, take your time.
I can't really decide between the veal and the chicken. By the
way, do they have any specials today?
Well, the menu says it's a beef patty served on a seeded bun
with a special sauce. Listen... Why don't we ask the waiter?
Can you catch his eye?
Sure. He's heading to our table. Excuse me, sir...
So. Have you made up your mind yet?
Mmm... We really need your advice. Can you tell us a little

Well, our special sauce is made of mayonnaise, ketchup,
pickles, and several spices.
Is it hot?
