Title Problem statement Research objectives

The objective should flow out of the problem statement. This will form the basis for the focus of your study and for building your argument for doing this research.

The title should represent the key essence(s) of your research project.

Know and state your problem clearly. This should demonstrate that you have a concrete reason to do the project. At this point, this is usually expressed based on a real-world problem.

Research questions
Formulate your research questions clearly. This should emerge from the stated objectives. Focus on what you intend to explore/ solve/ find/ learn/ /understand, etc.

Literature review
Identify the related research, concepts and theories that will help you to examine your research. List the literature that you are reading. You may map the literature to your RO and RQ.

What data to collect to answer RQ

Identify the data that you will gather. Use this as a guide: what data will help you understand the phenomena you wish to study? You may also include literatures on research methodology that you are going to use.

Who to collect the data from

Identify your sampling plan. Use this as a guide: Who can help you understand the phenomenon you wish to study? (why these people?)

How do Instrument you plan to needed to collect collect data data

How are you conducting the research? Eg: daily observation during prolonged engagement; interviews after every critical incident; etc Identify the instrument(s).

How data is to be analyzed

Describe the analysis method that you are going to use. Make sure the chosen analysis method is appropriate to the research questions and types of data.

Expected outcome (the result)

The expected outcome should directly address your research questions and objectives. If it doesnt then you may have jumped off the train at some point. Retrace your steps!!
